Not that many, and a moot point as to whether some of these I've listed below are maybe just ferry terminals, rather than 'ports')...

• Southampton/East Cowes (IoW);
• Poole/St. Helier (Jersey);
• Uig (Skye)/Tarbert (Harris);
• Armadale (Skye)/Mallaig;
• Kyle of Lochalsh/Kyleakin (this before the Skye Bridge opened);
• Glenelg/Kylerhea (Skye);
• Sconser (Skye) / East Suisnish (Raasay) (before the terminal on Raasay was moved).
• Sconser (Skye) / Clachan (Raasay) (after the terminal on Raasay was moved).

In the UK and Ireland with some attempt at grouping and some probably not worthy of being called ports!
Lerwick, Kirkwall, Stromness, Scrabster, Aberdeen
Stornoway, Tarbert (Harris), Lochmaddy, Ullapool
Kyle of Lochalsh, Kyleakin, Glenelg, Kylerhea, Armadale, Mallaig, Fort William, Arisaig, Muck, Rum
Lochboisdale, Castlebay, Coll, Tiree, Tobermory, Craignure, Ulva, Staffa (not really a port), Fionnphort, Iona
Oban, Lismore, Colonsay, Port Askaig, Port Ellen, Kennacraig
Claonaig, Lochranza, Brodick, Rothesay, Wemyss Bay, Millport, Cumbrae Slip, Tighnabruich, Ardrishaig, Tarbert (Loch Fyne, Inverary
Largs, Fairlie, Innellan, Dunoon, Gourock, Kilkreggan, Helensburgh, Craigendoran, Glasgow, Greenock (Princes Pier), Leith
Arrochar, Ardlui, Inversnaid, Tarbet, Luss, Rowardennen, Balmaha, Balloch, Loch Katrine
Ardrossan, Stranraer, Larne, Belfast, Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Rosslare,
Liverpool, Woodside, Seacombe, Salford, Holyhead, Fishguard
Ramsgate, Dover (East, West and Hoverport), Folkestone, Portsmouth, Southampton, Lymington, Poole, Plymouth, Harwich, Hull (Ferryport and Corporation Pier) New Holland, North Shields,
Tilbury, Gravesend, Swanage, Totnes, Dartmouth, Brixham, Yarmouth (IoW), Ryde, East Cowes
Lakeside, Bowness, Ambleside, Pooley Bridge, Glenridding, Coniston

I may have missed a few (but not many)

European (mainly) Ferry ports
Santander*, Dieppe, Oustreham, Le Havre*, Boulogne, Calais, Oostende, Zeebrugge*, Hoek van Holland, Bergen*, Stavanger*, Oslo*, Bygdoy, Kristiansand,*
(and too many others to mention in Norway on the Hurtigruten and several other coastal routes),
Hirtsals, Rodby, Puttgarden, Gedser, Warnemunde*, Kalundborg, Aarhus
Helsingor, Helsingborg, Stockholm*, Turku, Helsinki*, Gothenburg, Frederikshaven
Rotterdam* and Europort, Genoa, Bastia, Piombino, Elba*, Messina*, Villa San Giovanni, Stavoren, Enkhuisen, Vlissingen, Breskens

Those marked * also feature on my list of 105 ports visited on Cruises which I am happy to list if anyone is interested, mainly in Europe but also North Africa (3), Asia (1), USA (4) and Canada (4) plus UK departure / arrival ports of Southampton, Tilbury and North Shields also on the above list.

Apologies, quite a few late edits/corrections (not proof read!).

European Lakes - mmm, quite a few, mainly Switzerland and Italy, I'd need to think about them, and quite a few on the Rhine in Germany too

Further Edit: Add Patras, Ancona, Dunkirk (both the old train ferry berth (through locks) and the later trainferry berth a few miles out) to the European list, and Hythe Pier to the UK one.

Ushuaia, Argentina, and Longyearbyen, Svalbard spring to mind - not sure how much further north or south you can get and still be in a commercial port. Ushuaia notable for its anti-British propaganda signs at the port gates to this day (this is where Clarkson got driven out of town by the locals), and Longyearbyen notable for its Polar Bear warning signs - not sure which worried me more !

Tilbury-Aden and Aden-Mombasa, both there and back, aged 8 weeks on the first voyage and 19 months on the last (on the Ben Lawers).

Also the less exotic and now disappeared Fairlie Pier on the Clyde.

As a merchant navy engineer this thread intrigued me, I looked through my records and think I've been to 139 ports where the ship has tied up. There were several more where we'd anchored or drifted about for a bit.

Some great lists above, makes me realise i've taken very few ferry journeys.

Folkestone (too young to remember where we landed on the continent)
Newhaven (ditto)
Ryde
Portsmouth
Can't remember the ports when i took a ferry from Java to Bali, i do remember the rust bucket being followed by sharks all the way across, and a cat-sized rat which sat on my foot
