Recently, I found myself using Manchester Piccadilly quite a bit and have found out, to my chagrin, that the Crewe stopper is allocated to platform 8, in front of the Chester via Altrincham. With them both being scheduled to depart so close together and both being Northern trains, the Chester...
One from South Korea, an employee of the state operator KORAIL accessed the details of RM (Kim Nam-Joon), leader of the group BTS, 18 times over the span of 3 years. This included his phone number and travel information, which was given to a friend...
With a discussion here about the current situation around coach lettering on Pendolinos, should they be rationalised to fit with the swap of coach G from first to standard?
I noticed that just after Christmas, Skelton Junction had become the victim of flooding, with trains passing through at 5mph and having to stop to receive permission to pass through. Today, I noticed they had pumps on site and had cleared an area around a drain. Is there any news on what is...
Hello all,
I was due to see a friend in Manchester on Saturday but due to the strikes, I had to go up on Friday and return on Sunday instead. I travelled from Stoke on the all toc ticket with an open return, outbound on Avanti (was due to be XC but it was delayed), return on XC, so I have some...
What 350 subclasses are used on the CRE - EUS diagrams? I'm taking it all the way to Euston and want to know whether a first class fare would be worth it to avoid the issue of winding up with a /2.
Thanks in advance
I'm currently in the process of setting up my student bank account, and I'm wondering if the free railcard Santander offer is a physical or digital copy? Thanks in advance.
With the further rise of electric vehicles, it is inevitable that they will start to pay vehicle tax at some point in the near future. And with Bentley wanting to raise the maximum weight for a class c license from it's current 3.5 ton limit, due to their cars already being quite heavy, once...
Hello all,
Today at around 16:10, I left the Blackpool - Airport train on the return leg of a Knutsford - Bolton off peak day return, something this ticket allows. However, when I got to the street level gateline, my ticket was rejected. The guy I had at the barrier said that I had to continue...
With Manchester United looking to rebuild Old Trafford (again), this leaves an opportunity to finally do something about the halt. With it being closed by proxy since 2018 over safety concerns, options could be rebuilding the platform to bring it up to scratch or to close it and use the land for...
mods note - split from this thread.
Why are they giving it a ship classification when 94-96 & 98 aren't taken? Also, if they are just going to be Stadler EuroDuals, why not use the 93 classification? It feels like they're using new classifications for the sake of it, and soon, we'll run out.
Since it's being talked about a lot, I've decided to make this thread to discuss potential nicknames for the new Civitys.
Here are a few proposals:
195s & 331s - Seats (the car)
397s - Wasps
197s - Mohawks
I found out yesterday, in a totally not authoritarian turn, that since the 20th of December, the covid app can process;
Your race
Your political opinions
Your religion and beliefs
Your membership of a union
Your sexuality
This is the tweet that caused me to find out about it...
Hello all.
This evening, I had a few issues with Northern (and a tiny bit with Avanti) after the 16:47 Barrow to MIA service (due at Wigan 18:23) was part cancelled from Preston due to a shortage of train crew. I, along with another person went to the help desk on platform 3 at Wigan NW to ask...
You have a time machine to take you back to the 1960's, what are some unfulfilled Beeching cuts you would've made? Be it for practical or selfish reasons, say which cuts that were left on the cutting room floor you would go ahead with. For instance, Keeping Blackpool Central and closing North...
So the idea of this thread is to go wild and create a (or many) train(s) for your ideal HS2 fleet.
I'll start us off;
Classic compatible -
Tilting, 225mph capable 8 car trains with 25 meter carriages. Serving Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Preston, Blackpool & Scotland
Bodyshells - Alstom...
The Times are reporting Alstom and hitachi are going to be announced as the winners of the HS2 contract.

Unfortunate really. Poor decision if it is to be the case.
The engine power output on a class 60 of 3100 bhp puts it as a type 5, however, it's output at the rail of 2415 bhp puts it firmly in the type 4 category. So why is horsepower measured at the engine and not the rail?
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
