350 subclasses used on Crewe - Euston

What 350 subclasses are used on the CRE - EUS diagrams? I'm taking it all the way to Euston and want to know whether a first class fare would be worth it to avoid the issue of winding up with a /2.

You could get either a /1, a /2, a /3, a /4, or a combination of all of those. Honestly, it's a guessing game as to what you'll get.

All. It’s such a gamble but I’ve done it regularly as a way of getting to Manchester as they have £9 advances.

It can be any. They're diagrammed as specific subclasses in theory, but in practice you'll get whatever they can rustle up. To be fair it's quite uncommon for the service to be shortformed, and you'd have to be really unlucky to end up with a double /2.

Simple answer: whatever turns up. If you get really lucky you might get 2 x 350/2's

TBH the 350/2's are that much of a problem on the Crewe trains. They are not ideal but they are not uncomfortable and they are reliable. The refreshment facilities are the same across the fleet as are the toilet facilities. They all have wifi.

If a "2" turns up just grab a single seat and read.

Upside of /2s is better window alignment and more legroom in the bays.

First Class is questionable, 2+2 layout with what most think are worse seats than Standard, though I can see the point on a /2.

I’ve suffered double 350/2s often enough on the Crewes and also Birminghams. Punishment for cheaping out.

350/2s are all too familiar on the Crewe - Euston runs unfortunately. The last three times on the trot, I've had two /2s on the run into London. Not a pleasant experience at all but as Birmingham says, that's what happens when one does it on the cheap.

Always a kick in the teeth when you board at Euston onto a pair of 2s when the Tring stopper is a pair of 1s etc.

As I have mentioned before the Tring stoppers carry mostly commuters travelling alone but the long distance services a far higher proportion of groups and families for which the bays of 6 are ideal, so there is actually a very good case for deliberately diagramming them like that, though in reality they are just diagrammed as a single pool.

Whilst a 2 is not ideal when your traveling on an advance for less than a tenner then you can't really grumble. I guess for guaranteed comfort at a similar price you could take the coach but you won't arrive so quickly.

Alternatively there's Avanti for extra comfort, real first class and catering but you pay extra.

And end up squeezed in like sardines due to the previous Avanti service being cancelled on the reduced timetable.

Well an advance first single is only £14 for me, so if it isn't a /2, it's no water off my back. Plus I can always sit in standard, should I so wish.

Generally, from my own observations, I find its usually a /2 and a /3 or /4, although on Sunday a pair of /2s turned up.

What I find particularly frustrating is that there's not even the little tables in front of the seats!
