I've seen a few WCM buses on the route, which must be very confusing for passengers.

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

There is peak time restrictions on concessions though and you can only use them off peak. Hence the buses carrying good loads as no time restrictions. Correct on the fares, £4 is the cap but not here.

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

Concessions are free on the bus for u22 and over 60s. The train is £8.50 for adults, £4 for OAPs off peak return so a decent saving. Sure train takes 20mins or so less from Port Glasgow but the extra time might be worth it.

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

Interesting knowledge. Seems a strong desire for Braehead there! I've not been there in ages, last time I was there it didn't seem to be what it was in the early 2000s.

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

I have no doubt the community felt like Braehead was the place underserved given train links but there is paying £3 plus on the bus instead of driving to thousands of free parking spaces so fully agree on the second part! I think the council papers suggested that a link to Erskine was an...

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

Clearly the rail station works well, but the bus didn't go where people wanted IMO - it was a 'bus service- tick' by developer funding and arguably a waste of funding. Maidenhill M7 will likely end the same way.

    Northern to Dumfries

Northern Units also occasionally escaped to Glasgow. One got on a diagram and ended up in East Kilbride before it was noticed and sent back down.

Passport prices to increase yet again from next month.

I suspect if you were born abroad and lived there and travel on a foreign passport with ETA even if you are technically dual through a British parent it is probably pretty low chance of this being discovered or an issue. Surely they have zero time to look at this at the border?

Passport prices to increase yet again from next month.

We've recently done Canadian passports and it is $260 Canadian or nearly £200 for the 10 year Canadian passport. They have different fees for inside and outside the country applications which makes it £80 or so more expensive to issue abroad - presumably shipping costs. I can also say having...

Thanks for the link back - missed that one.

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

Might be asking a silly question here - trying to book for the family - 2 adults and 1 kid, with a two together railcard covering the adults. When on the site's ticketing site, I get an warning saying "Your railcard isn't valid for this combination of adults and children. Please add non-railcard...

    Fire at Glasgow Central (08/03/26)

I'm surprised there isn't some effort to run local services even if they don't get to Central as there is a lot of disrupted journeys at the moment even outside of the Central flows. I realise turnbacks can be an issue, but surely possible as an interim.

    Fire at Glasgow Central (08/03/26)

Would there be any need to keep other platforms closed? I think you'd need the circulation space in the concours rather than just the area at p10-15 and that will let you use the lower down platforms.

    Fire at Glasgow Central (08/03/26)

Well that's done people a favour then. I hope they just pull it down quickly. Nothing worse than if they try to save it and it sits for years with ugly propping getting weatherbeaten and growing buddleia only to be pulled down years later.

Sounds decent and much simpler network for Gryffe.

Waverley set to overtake Glasgow Central for first time in 150 years

I think the woes of Glasgow are slightly overstated. Edinburgh has always been big on leisure/tourism which has held up and Glasgow was big in terms of office commuters and retail both have been decimated in recent years -not helped by retail in Glasgow moving to the outskirts. Having spent a...

The irony is they moved depot from Blochairn Road, just round the corner from Charles Steet to Cumbernauld.

    SPT Tendered Routes

Is it combining the 530 and 1 services to a through route? You might *just* get a 60 min clock face offering? Is a lot of the saving down to the contract being different as previously McGills had 1/1a and 2/2a routes but the latter 3 routes were binned when Johnstone Area Community Transport...
