Something weird seems to be going on with the Avanti booking site
The website and app are showing different seat availability on the same service
This from the 0737 GLC - EUS on 30th July
Initial seat allocation - F18 with the website showing the carriage as "Sorry, this is an unreserved...
Had an off peak return ticket purchased through Avanti website for which I need to get a refund as plans cancelled
Despite their information no link in then My Bookings section and trying via the app an even more confusing and incorrect message
On their advise fill in the webform only to get a...

A short from the BBC on the "window tax" applied to Scarborough residents overlooking BR land
Now - I seem to recall a thread regarding a photo showing boards erected between railway land and houses but cannot find it.
Is this one...
Seems that there are quite a few comments (especially given travel restrictions) regarding departure times being brought forward
Surely this should be a worse case scenario with services being stepped back being preferred as far as a member of the public travelling would be concerned?
Seems...
Since Avanti have taken over the service there seems to be a distinct lack of lower tier advance fares for Glasgow - Euston on a Sunday (all the way to the end of the current booking window).
Using RailEasy, services that seem to have sold maybe 6 tickets are priced at £84 for most of the day -...
So, as expected the switch to even pricing for outbound and return removes the date flexibility on the return leg currently available on an off peak return ticket

Needs use of translate but definitely punchy
Had not seen before that FGW seem to have an unusual policy of release advance tickets for dates but not walk on fares.
For example London Paddington to Bristol TN out on 6th June return 9th June.
For the 1600 service
FGW site offering a cheapest fare of £103.50 (actually 1st class, standard...
I note this ticket restriction has changed as per title.
IIRC there was previously 2 any permitted fares, one slightly more expensive by about £2.
Is this change part of the fare simplification process?
Based on restrictions I assume ticket would be valid on direct WCML services, travel via...
So looking at 2 x tickets for Glasgow to Aberdeen.
3 tickets remaining at one Advance price band - click through and show Reserved - No Seat Allocated.
Repeat process, pricing actually skips the next price band but at the higher price all of a sudden there is are reserved seats.
Is this common?
Where there is no break of journey restriction in place why would anyone buy an Anytime Single fare from A to B when buying an off peak return from C (where C has no peak restrictions) to A that passes through B and simply not using the outbound portion is in some cases is nearly 50% cheaper?
All TOC have now release advance tickets for this date onward but it is not possible to purchase a VTWC + Connections advance ticket from Manchester to Glasgow (and vice versa) from 21/05 onwards. Only TPE Advance fares are shown.
Put in Salford as the origin point and advance fare (changing...
I have tickets for travel next week, travelling out on an Advance ticket and returning on Off-Peak booked through the VTWC site.
I need to now change journey. For the Advance leg this is straight forward, I can amend it on the website (with £10 booking fee). However the only option I have for...
Looked at booking in December from Glasgow to Lancaster and getting the option to reserve in coach F and coach C is not available.
Coach F
Coach C
Since starting typing confirmed on twitter that a change is happening
Sort of following on from the TPE thread re advertising one thing and offering another (on cheapest Advance fares)
We probably all know that VTWC advertise Weekend First online as follows

But for Anglo-Scottish routes...

Having recently moved to Glasgow have been spending some time exploring the considerable history of the city.
