Best bus routes in western Cornwall?

Apologies for bringing this back up, but does anybody know what's currently going on with route 7 between St Just and Sennen Cove? The TfC website shows no timetables for any dates, and the route has been removed entirely from bustimes.org. I was under the impression the route was running...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

They are permitted to run between Woking and Ash Vale via Brookwood. We used to have a turn which worked a 701 ECS move from Aldershot to Woking in the evening. I think some of the 1NXX services have also been diverted this way during disruption before.

People obtaining railway keys and breaking into cabs

Depots or messrooms tend to be accessed by number pad (or a BR1 key in some cases) rather than by swipe card, at least at my TOC.

ECS moves that could become passenger services

Yes, the practicalities of terminating at Wimbledon on the up did come to mind when writing my post. Of course, it does happen regularly on Sunday mornings when up Cobham services terminate there, but every time I have worked those services it's always chaos. I imagine it'd be far worse towards...

ECS moves that could become passenger services

Thereotically, 5Y54 18:54 Dorking to Wimbledon Park could become a passenger service between Dorking and Wimbledon. The stock for the move is formed off 1D51 17:53 Waterloo to Dorking, which we clear out at Dorking and then dispatch as empties, travelling on it as far as Wimbledon where we...

    Oddball Journeys (Trivia)

On Mondays to Saturdays, the first and last Chertsey Line "Weybridge stoppers" as they're so called are diverted to instead start/end at Woking as 1S08 and 1S77 respectively. On Sundays, however, all trains on the Chertsey Line are diverted to Woking and don't serve Weybridge.

Why don't trains on Platform 6/7 at Guildford open their doors into Platform 7?

In my experiences on the DLR, the gaps there tend to be almost non-existent so I'd imagine the risk of someone falling between the train and the platform being negligible.

Why don't trains on Platform 6/7 at Guildford open their doors into Platform 7?

The third rail runs alongside platform 7, so it's deemed too risky to open the doors on that side. Dispatching from both platforms 6 and 7 at once would also prove operationally problematic and provide very little benefit for the lightly-used Guildford to Farnham services.

Saddest Sights on the Railways (Trivia)

About a year ago, I passed through Betws-y-Coed station and the state of the narrow gauge railway attraction there was incredibly sad to see. I did some research and seem to remember reading that it was still operational, although it certainly didn't look like it and seemed long abandoned to me...

Are SWR's on board announcements excessive?

That is one of the announcements which can be played manually using the TMS by either the guard or driver. I've personally never understood the purpose of it, as once the doors are shut, surely anybody who is on the platform (and fouling the dispatch corridor) wouldn't be able to hear the...

Trivia: Services with Unusual Calling Patterns

2D03 05:39 London Waterloo to Guildford via Epsom runs fast between Effingham Junction and London Road, skipping out Horsley and Clandon. I believe it's now the only service which skips out these stations, though of course back when Southern operated a limited service down to Guildford, Horsley...

Can you access Queenstown Road (Battersea) on Sundays?

No worries. On the plus side, the walk isn't too bad if you go along the river. :)

Can you access Queenstown Road (Battersea) on Sundays?

I wouldn't think so. There is a night gate for use when the booking office isn't open, but that's locked during the day so not sure why it'd be left open if the station isn't. Don't take my word as gospel though.

Chaseside operating buses on TfL Route 111

Thanks, as I suspected then! :) Out of interest, how are they accepting payment for these services? I'm assuming their buses don't have Oyster readers fitted?
