By way of a final update Northern approved the claim forwarded from Avanti quickly (I've just been slow in returning here to say so). I could see both arguments so wasn't inclined to appeal until I was a little further into ping-pong between them!
Thanks all
Thanks all for replies/advice. Went for Avanti and claim was rejected/forwarded to Northern via their automated system in a matter of minutes.
"We have checked the journey you have claimed for and our records show that this service was operated by another train operator (Northern). Therefore...
Looking to go Bishop's Stortford (BIS) - Heathrow tomorrow morning during morning peak, returning Weds evening. 26-30 railcard held (though expiring soon so probably not worth trying to organise a discounted oyster en-route).
Anytime return is £49.95, while the forum's ticketing website offers...
I bought my 26-30 railcard on 18th Oct. 2019, so today (17th Oct. 2020) is the last day of validity. In the app however it is showing as Valid Until: 17 Oct 20 Card status: EXPIRED
The FAQs on the 26-30 railcard website confirm that it should be valid to use on the date of expiry, so this is...
Around 2 weeks ago I went to my local ticket office (Northern) to refund my annual season ticket. The ticket was unloaded from my smartcard and attached to the form, which was then placed on a pile at the back of the office, and I was told I would receive my refund to the card I bought the...
Was looking for advances from Manchester to stations on the Furness line, and noticed that all stations have TPE+connections advances available, apart from Grange-over-Sands (GOS), which has none (confirmed on BRfares).
Anyone have any idea why GOS isn't included?
Will be travelling outward Glossop - Chester tomorrow, returning on Friday via Macclesfield. Planning on buying an any permitted return then filling in the off-route gap with singles to get to Macclesfield.
Anyone have any better ideas? Two travellers, both holding 16-25 railcard, one with a...
It worked today, so only a problem for a week - wonder if they've had to set the barriers to accept any ticket?
The traincard is laid out like a standard season, except for having & GM TRAINCARD * in the destination field (with Glossop, where I bought it, as the origin). Don't know how they're...
I'm not that surprised, but I thought I'd got away without having problems as recently as last Thursday! I'm intrigued as to what gate software update would forbid GM traincards, which will be a pretty common ticket type seen at Piccadilly.
I suppose there's no point getting in touch with...
As of last Friday, the ticket gates at Manchester Piccadilly have been rejecting my GM traincard* season ticket (issued from Glossop) with error code 116. I have seen several other people having the same problem.
http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=48909 suggests the error code...
Thank you! Thought it'd be worth checking though.
Would I have any chance of success if I asked TPE for permission to travel an hour earlier so I don't have to arrive quite so late? I'd imagine it's not worth it as it's a virgin replacement bus...
I booked an advance ticket (via TPE) for the above journey in early April. The journey details are
Wigan 15.43-Preston 15.57
Preston 16.10 - Carlisle 18.00 (by bus)
Carlisle 18.14 - Workington 19.03
Unfortunately an extra stop at Penrith has been added to the replacement bus since I...
I'm trying to get an itinerary from Bishop's Stortford-Tottenham Hale-Victoria line-Euston-Manchester, yet all of national rail enquiries, virgintrains.co.uk and TPE insist on sending me via Liverpool Street. Anyone have any idea what's going on? The same thing happens if I look to go up the...
