TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

They also do breakfast on certain services, something I am keen to try once the service is more reliable from Cardiff.

I’m semi regularly on 1W55 and have only been let down once in the last year for breakfast. (Due to a lack of Mk4).

Thats good to know. That would most likely be the one id catch up to Manchester or the Swansea starter now its a MK4.

All 7 are planned to do something:

67014, unsurprisingly for that one at the moment had issues so swapped out. Seems V31 was cancelled as a result and HD03 put on V33 instead, as that's booked onto the ETD lathe tomorrow a swap at Cardiff, with it picking up the 10:52 Manchester Seems likely.

It was, but now sets haven't left this morning it seems unlikely for now. if it moves there it will potentially overload Crewes normal 4 set limit so until something else leaves/gets swapped out it's basically going to be full there.

[LNW-GW Joint]

1V91 (Holyhead-Cardiff) has diverted between Chester and Shrewsbury via Crewe, because of the landslip near Gobowen.
So the set will be in reverse formation without the usual Chester reversal.
Currently 38 late leaving Shrewsbury.

Looks like 016 & 017 possibly swapped sets in Holyhead as 017 is showing as working 1V91 with HD05.

Maybe the move to 5 diagrams was a little ambitious for 7 sets.

Apologies, been yet another change with 67014+HD07 moving over to the ETD which frees up space for HD01 to arrive.

All a bit messy and confusing Current state of play unless it changes again seems to be:
HD01 is now on its way to Crewe ecs, HD02 is in service
HD03 has swapped to a Crewe finish, will swap locos overnight to 67029 and head to Crewe ETD, due a heavy exam in a few days so I'd be suprised to see it back before it's exam.
HD04 didn't enter service as expected and is now expected tomorrow on v33
HD05 swapped diagrams and now finishes Canton.
HD06 made its way to Crewe ATC
HD07 has gone to Crewe ETD.

Tomorrow has 4 diagrams with HD01,03,07.all out now out of service. HD02 should start out of Holyhead, HD04 off Crewe on 1V33, HD05 from Canton on 1W13 and HD06 out of Crewe on V31. Plenty of time for that to all change and be proven wrong!

If we are looking at working days and not including Bank Holidays or Weekends (when there are generally less diagrams anyway) then at the moment we are up to 78.5% availability (Thurs 3 out of 4 diagrams covered, Friday and today both had 4 out of 5, so of a total of 14 diagrams across the 3 days 11 were covered.

Personally I am happy to see the 5 diagrams, even if they cant always achieve that the intention is there and they cant continue to sub the early Swansea service for a unit forever.

Hopefully if they do have to sub one diagram for a unit it will be a different one most days rather than it always being the Swansea starter that was always subbed until recently.

It is good to have 1W13 as a Mk4. However, I long gave up on that train as I can leave home at the same time and be in Manchester an hour earlier driving to Pontypool. The economics of it may change, but the M4 is nice and quiet and no worries about Cardiff connections/platform waits.

11/14 diagrams covered is still poor, though I do understand that the 197 figures are arguably worse (a bit harsh counting the number of 5-car run as 5-car when some 197s are covering other units elsewhere).
