No real surprises then as far as I can tell.

That's a lot of buttons they're going to need to stock up on then. :D

(Sorry!)

Looks like they have had to take notice of some TFL design consultants which would be better ignored:lol:

Body lines haven't changed but frontage has changed a bit.

They even kept the body length orange line just above the doors and extended it on to the front.

I'm surprised that they've gone for slide and plug doors, i'd have expected sliding doors for any "metro" type route

Also why the aerodynamic front not exactly highspeed routes where these trains will be operating?

That's probably a way of designing in the crash protection without turning it into something as ugly as the 380s.

Despite being part of the same family, this unit and the 345s have got some differences, most notably the lights, but also windscreen wipers. Both of the renders do seem to have missed out the electrical block on the coupler

As for the doors, because none of the lines that these will be operating over are high-frequency like the ELL, door operating speed shouldn't be the most pressing matter

Personally I'm taking these images with a pinch of salt and wait to see what both these and the Crossrail units really look like, and that includes whether or not they get sliders or plugs.

Whats with that strange cab door?! The one from the original render was much better.. lights are odd too.

The lights are just horrid, look like something from the 1970s. Hope this isn't really what they'll look like.

Will the cross rail units and these be exactly the same apart from whatever option the TOC goes for for the passenger doors?

Crossrail are 9 x 23m car fixed formation. LO are 4 x 20m. Not that identical.

Oh and just remembered the Crossrail units have 3 sets of doors per carriage, another not insignificant difference.

Maybe, and it's all subjective, but they look like someone forgot to add them and just cut out two holes afterwards.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why the Crossrail units appear to have a sliding Electrostar style door for the cab, but these appear to have a voyager style hinged door, I don't really see why they would be different which why I'm somewhat sceptical as to how accurate these images are, after all Porterbrook produced an upgrade brochure for the 319's there is one image showing a new cab front but not only does it show it with a new cab front but it also appears to get a body side like a 365 along with plug doors:lol:
