At risk of repeating myself and annoying others, the times that have been posted for the HST's confuse me. Basically, will one be running the Glasgow - Penzance Service today?? And will one be running the Penzange - Dundee tomorrow morning??
No both the Glasgow to Penzance and Penzance to Dundee run today. Then tomorrow one XC set does 09:40 Newquay to Newcastle and the other set does 09:40 Newcastle to Newquay. Plus there are the 2 NXEC sets out as well tomorrow.
No its not HST. Its Edinburgh that runs today. Misread the diagrams. Glasgow ran yesterday.
Never knew that a different engine made so much of a difference. But if it does, the drivers will soon be passed on them!
I presume so, as neither MML nor GNER drivers would have had the route knowledge.
Well, the Paignton - Newcastle service is a NXEC 9 Coach HST. Im on it from Exeter to York, and I have wireless access as well!!!

Who's guessing what they really mean is a signal failure??

The problem at Bridgwater after a rather entertaining emergency stop was due to signal problems. Upon approaching Bridgewater at 100mph or so the signal had been reverted back to red tripping the TPWS. Where abouts where you sat?

Well yes - It was a red signal so was quite a serious situation even if the signal was wrong.

Seemed to stop pretty sharpish. Walking was pretty difficult too :P
You were on that train?? Where were you?? And im not saying it didn't stop sharpish - im just saying it's not what I would have thought an Emergency Stop would be like.
You stay on as far as Sheffield?? If you didn't, you missed a right load of havok there!

I was on from Paignton - Bristol Parkway. Coach B at front

Hahah yeah. Well, we got to Chesterfield, something happened with the driver so over the PA System, the manager asked for anyone who was a driver to let themselves be known so they could help. But no one came forward. So we went to Sheffield. No driver there either. So we had to go back to Chesterfield due to the engineering works, but at Sheffield someone had tried to get off the train and not locked the door again properly. So the train refused to budge halfway between Sheffield and Chesterfield. Then when we got to Chesterfield, the initial relief driver was there and we went to Westgate via Bolton on Dearne, and Moorthorpe.

Looks like another service may be in bother, 1E53 1635 Paignton to York arrived Chesterfield an hour ago and doesnt seem to have left yet!
eeeer dunno what tht means... but the number i do know is P21079
and JST - i cant see the paigton train on the departure board at all now... so it might have gone

Hi all,
just arrived in Manchester, after very enjoyable day out on the 07:24 Man Picc to Newquay & 15:22 return back, all 720 miles of the passenger side of the diagram...
I am very happy that the Valenta was on the FC end, as I enjoyed the great thrash throughout the day...
Did anyone from here bash the Manchester-Newquay, or return at all today- If so, i probably saw you..

The train was booked to go via Chesterfield twice. It was booked via the "old road" which avoids Sheffield. Presumably there had been a farce which meant the driver had not signed the route. They would have been appealing for a driver that did sign the route to 'route conduct' the driver over this line.
It's an interesting route, what did you think of it?

What did you think an emergency stop would be like?
Well according to the guard - we weren't supposed to go anywhere near Sheffield in the first place, becuase of the engineering works, and the fact that no one was allowed off/on the train. Didn't stop some trying though....
And I didn't really think much of the diversionary route - bit slow I thought.
And as for the emergency stop - I dunno. I just thought it would be more of a sharpish jolt, not many other people thought it was an emergency stop either from where I was sat. Specially seeing as we had been going at 100mph

Seriously though, its quite easy to tell as there is quite a jolt when the train actually stops.
