What a sorry state of affairs - at this rate, I would absolutely amazed if the 196s enter service this year, never mind in a few weeks’ or months’ time.
That happens with many units. Ive had to isolate different things on different units many times across the years, to get them going. Just one unit having a system isolated a few weeks ago isn't really anything to worry about. There's obviously other things going on causing the delay. They had to isolate to get one moving out the shed a few weeks ago. Just an example of how these units are still not ready for service. It's not just a case of waiting on a few door panels which seems to be suggested.
Presumably an issue with one of the safety systems preventing the unit gaining traction, isolating it will resolve it temporarily. Happens sometimes.I am a tad confused about what isolate means here. Originally it was referring to coronavirus and staff isolation- pardon my ignorance but what is system isolation?

Those are 197s, the TfW variant, which would be better suited to this thread I think https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/caf-civity-for-tfw-news-and-updates-on-introduction.182501/196101/102 and 230009 at Chester today

Storage I think because no room at Tyseley at the moment.I've noticed there's a single 196 hiding at the back of Bletchley TMD (as of Saturday afternoon). Any idea what it's there for? East West Rail trials?
Hahahaha good one lol hahaAt this rate, let’s set a challenge: which will happen first, a snail makes its way from John O’Groats to Land’s End or the 196s enter service? My money is on the snail![]()
I just looked it up. A snail will do 0.048 km/h which is 0.029825817 mph.At this rate, let’s set a challenge: which will happen first, a snail makes its way from John O’Groats to Land’s End or the 196s enter service? My money is on the snail![]()
Source? Sure it wasn’t just a test run?Hahahaha good one lol haha

196105 was on the salop runs today doing "Instructor Training". 5Q72 and 5Q73
Sorry but, last time I checked there were 24 hours in a day....I just looked it up. A snail will do 0.048 km/h which is 0.029825817 mph.
The distance from Land's End to John o'Groats is 874 miles. Divide that by the speed, and you get 29303.4722234 hours. Divide that by 60 and you get 488.391203723 days. Let's call that 489 days. That means that if the 196 has not entered service by 26th July 2023, the snail will have won.
Haha absolutely love the mental arithmetic; but I think you meant divided by 24, which equates to a tad under 1221 days - works out to, I think, 31st July 2025. Put it this way, with the glacial speed at which things are proceeding, I’d probably still win my betI just looked it up. A snail will do 0.048 km/h which is 0.029825817 mph.

Well today was meant to be start of train crew traction training which is now scheduled for May, so having DIs out now would make senseSource? Sure it wasn’t just a test run?
Drat.... yes.... I've gone and divided by minutes haven't I?!Sorry but, last time I checked there were 24 hours in a day....![]()

PS: If the deadline were actually 26th July 2023, I might have considered doubling my stake!
