Just wanted to know if any trek fans are on this forum, and if so what series is your favorite?
Enterprise for me.
Enterprise for me.
DS9 or Voyager depending which mood I am in.
Except when 'Trip' Tucker got his top off or appeared in tight shorts......

Very funny Scotty, now beam down my clothes
I entirely concur with these sentiments. Voyager is my favourite series, because, as is said above, of it being so far removed from the traditional "Star Trek" area of the galaxy that it restored the spirit of exploration to the series. The final episode did seem to be something of an easy way out though. And having said that, just as you say the original classic series is incomparable for "boldly going where no-one had gone before" and being the archetypal point of reference for all things Star Trek. The classic series will always remain incomporable but of all the later versions Voyager has to be my favourite.
Something about being so far off the beaten track brought the genre back to a spirit of exploration. Final episode ended on a bit of a damp squib, however.
Why on earth those security blokes didn't stay well out of the way as soon as there was even the slightest hint of an away mission to a planets' surface is beyond me. You would think that they would have started to notice a trend emergingI'm not a Trekkie by any means but having been brought up on The Original Series (Just called Star Trek back then) that has to be the favourite.
Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Uhura, Chekov, Sulu and of course the security guy in the red shirt that always got killed when they beamed down to the surface.
Marvellous.
That and it seemed to make a right cock up of the assumed history of the Star Trek universe from those bits of it that had previously been established by the original series and The Next Generation, if anybody actually worries about such things.
My thoughts exactly. That newer "Star Trek" movie is pretty cringeworthy from a perspective of it tying in with the rest of the Star Trek universe, though it does have the (poor) excuse of ostensibly being set on a different timeline (Starting with that rather peeved Romulan popping into the 23rd century) to the Star Trek series' that had preceded it.Quite, which is why I didn't enjoy the JJ Abrams "Star Trek" movie. Something nagged away at me for ages, then I realised that it was because it reminded me of how the "Thunderbirds" movie just ignored anything it didn't like or was inconvenient from the original.

I prefer DS9, TNG has some good episodes and so does Voyager, but they are not as good as DS9 or the original series. I'm not a particular fan of the newest Hollywood film either, it's okay but there is too much 'Hollywood' in it ("There has to be a love story, people go crazy for love stories", etc).
As for Enterprise, well I have a few issues with the time line and things that are said in the earlier series/films, but I believe George Takei's Futurama character said it best.....
"Way to kill the franchise Bakula!".
Interestingly, DS9 came out around the same time as Babylon 5 and it is said that Paramount were offered B5, but said they no.

Tsk, not a patch on Captain Kirk who always manage to get his shirt ripped off somehow![]()
Could Shatner have hammed up the look-at-me smouldering and wooden posturing any more if he tried? The whole camp-as-Butlins aspect of it is just marvellous.
The Original Series for me, but I am a bit of a Trekkie (or is it Trekker; now there's a debate) and a science nerd in general.
Now, can anyone tell me what the purpose of conducting a scan involving zeta particle flux, gamma ray emission and flow rate of positrons is?
Answers on a postcard please...
Nothing can go faster than light.

Tsk, you earthlings will never get out into space with that sort of closed thinking![]()
Every one of the various incarnations had its high and low points, but I preferred TNG slightly. Unlike the original series it did not have all of the senior crew members on duty at the same time and beaming down into unknown perils en masse.
The best Star Trek movie is not Star Trek at all - it is Galaxy Quest, centred on actors from a long running popular TV series set on a starship...

I agree on that, Galaxy Quest is fantastic and the Star Trek actors all found it quite funny. Also with a brillant performance by Alan Rickman before everyone just knows him for Harry Potter films as snape. But his best role is as Hans Gruber in Die Hard 1

nothing will be as good as Battlestar Galactica
