My bed. It's really soft and warm and comfortable. Having finally come home to my folks for a bit after graduating from university in summer — I still live in that city usually so I haven't come down south for a while — I'm having a proper relax and actually unwinding — which TBH I need! Having a sit down and a veg out, then I'm wandering into town to pick up the Pulp feature in Uncut magazine, then taking my mum out to the local pub, and then tomorrow it's preparing for masters applications.
Congratulations, that's fantastic news!
Same. Staying in a hotel for a week while visiting family is fine, but it's no replacement for being at home in my own bed with a more spacious bathroom and a living room I can fall asleep in watching some trashy TV.

What makes me happy, is waking up each morning, I can understand the previous post, there's nothing like being in your own bed, in your own place, where if you want to get up later you can, where you make your own rules, or none at all and you're not having to follow other people's rules.

I've been watching all the HIGNFY shows since No. 1, currently part-way through Season 9, and Paul Merton has mellowed with age; he's less snarky now. I don't miss Angus Deayton, but I do miss the attacks that Paul and Ian would launch on him at times - "Is that a brown suit?"
I'm happy because I went out on my first walk for a few weeks yesterday (not counting shopping trips), and my arthritic knee got through it okay, with just a bit of soreness today. I only walked a bit over three miles, and just over half a mile of that was walking down a road with a 1 in 5 gradient (or 20%), with some s-bends, so a bit of a trial for my knee. Went from High Newton to Lindale, near Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria, and was chuffed to see a WW2 pillbox as I walked (not in the photo below).

Not strictly today, but earlier this week. In the depths of lockdown, when I'd just finished the Harry Potter books (something to do, I suppose) and enjoyed them no end, I promised myself rather rashly that I would read them all aloud to my younger brother (who had, at that point, not read any of them), so that I could get the pleasure of seeing him enjoy them too, and could have an excuse to stick my nose in them again and again. (I was rather selfish at that age.)
Fast forward something like six years, and I finished reading the final book to him on Friday. During the intervening years it transpired that my brother is dyslexic, so there's no way he'd have been able to read and enjoy four 600-page books by himself. So I definitely achieved what I set out to do*, and that made me really happy! Although I'm not sure whether I'll miss having to create different voices for seemingly ten thousand different characters within my limited repertoire...
*Although my brother still says that Stephen Fry is better

I'm happy today as it is the first time in quite a while that I've felt ok, having had this "super cold" (or whatever you choose to call it!) for about 5 weeks. It wasn't flu as I had no shivers, aches nor high temperature. In the last 2 weeks of it I needed antibiotics, steroids and an inhaler as it had turned to bronchitis.
It reminded me that I need to buy an elf - after all, you're nothing if you don't have your elf......

Glad to hear you're better - I know a few people who had it over Christmas and it sounds very rotten indeed. Hopefully you have a much better rest of winter

Actually yesterday: the announcement of the Grand Depart of the 2027 Tour de France had me grinning all evening. Not only does one stage finish in my home city but if the route remains as shown yesterday it passes within about half a mile of my house.

I travelled over part of Stage 2 on a bus this morning (Morecambe to Milnthorpe). Should be fun to watch them pass in Milnthorpe, as it was one of the main bottlenecks on the A6 before the M6 motorway was built.

My internet is off and needed to log into a meeting. Went to the cafe of an arts centre, but it was mobbed as they had an event on, so had to sit in a really unsuitable table. A staff member came up to me when an ideal table became available, so I was able to log in and do what I had to. A small bit of kindness on an otherwise difficult morning.
