They don't appear to be connected to a trackside cabinet though, and they're underneath the head of the rail so would they be able to register the changing field?Axle counters?

I also wondered about the lack of any obvious cabling. They do look a bit like the yellow Frauscher axle counter detector heads at first glance, but they‘d always come with pretty obvious wiring and securing brackets. They don't appear to be connected to a trackside cabinet though, and they're underneath the head of the rail so would they be able to register the changing field?
I note that track is very rusty, even if it looks to be in good condition otherwise. Are they perhaps clearance point markers for a shunt neck or yard entrance? The angle of the photo is not clear but the tracks appear to be converging.
I was ready to type "datum plate" before the photo even loaded.I dont know what the yellow things are, but at least there is a datum plate in the photo for forum consistency...

I think it; because some of the sleeper ends are covered by the fresh ballast.I was ready to type "datum plate" before the photo even loaded.
Is it perspective, or is there something 'odd' about the sleepers? They don't seem to line up properly either side of the rails.
Also a potential trick of the photo with a deep ballast shoulder between the lines.I think it; because some of the sleeper ends are covered by the fresh ballast.
Maybe installed now, but to be connectd up in a few weeks' time? (whatever they are!)I also wondered about the lack of any obvious cabling. They are not axle counters ....
Rail thermometers.
Which axle counters are these? They look similar to the wireless axle counters but not the same from what i have seen before
Do you know the manufacturer? They’re thermometers, not axle counters.
Found it, this answers my question! Thank you so much! There's a YouTube vid showing how they work. The channel is RSS Infrastructure.
Think it's Critical Rail Thermometer monitor 300??
