There is no evening service Leeds to Bradford FS is there not?

The Leeds to Bradford Forster Square Winter Timetable does not appear to be active yet online. This used to happen with some of the smaller pocket timetables in the past few years so it may go live nearer the timetable change in December but the paper copy may be available sooner from some rail stations. They are not always placed out on display before the change so it is worth asking at the station booking office at the beginning of December.

The original weekday evening North Bradford Electrics timetable had hourly trains on the Skipton-Leeds and Forster Square-Leeds routes, with an option to travel Skipton-Leeds every half hour by changing at Shipley on the opposite service.
Customers generally preferred to have a half-hourly Skipton-Leeds service and the Forster Square-Leeds train was reduced to a Shipley shuttle.
(the Skipton-Bradford service did continue though).

It looks a right mess and the new, dreadful looking rail map is even worse. How long will it be before the rail zones are scrapped.

TBH I personally want to see the bus timetables more or less go the same way as I think it would be better for the individual companies to produce their own as I do think that people look for the operator first and then the route, having an individual look could well make it easier.

However back to the combined book, I do think it should, out of everything that Metro produce be retained.

The West Yorkshire rail map and timetable have never really digested the changes of the last 15 years with the reopening of Brighouse and Grand Central linking Bradford, Halifax, Wakefield and Pontefract. The Leeds-Dewsbury-Brighouse-Man Vic service ended up in a table of its own as well as in the Huddersfield and Caldervale timetables.

Grand Central confuse the system as well because they make it possible to travel between some of the main centres in West Yorkshire directly and without changing at Leeds. When I had a Zone 1-3 MetroCard it always seemed slightly illogical that I could go from Wakefield or Pontefract to Bradford if I was prepared to change at Leeds, but not direct because I'd be out of my zones after Mirfield.

Not sure about the bus timetables being produced by the bus companies. Until recently, some routes had evening journeys run by a different operator, resulting in two timetables for the same route??

To be honest I found the Grand Central guards usually turned a bit of a blind eye to that particular 'loophole' anyway

The rail zones won't be scrapped as they are needed for the Metrocards which vary greatly in price.

Losing Metro bus timetables would be a bad idea because although operator ones may look more stylish in some cases, you'd get very poor offerings or none at all by the smaller operators, and there would be poor distribution and availability. Arriva run just two services into Halifax, would they ensure that their timetables are always available in Halifax, probably not.

I personally think that the smaller independants would just produce a single book that contains all of their services in it - South Pennine CT produce their own set of timetables and are often the only timetables available for their services instead of the WYCA one which, I've found, is quite hard to get hold of. I do believe that TLC, Watersons M Travel and Stotts (the latter who already produce one for the Boxing Day freebie, the H11) would also provide their own in book form.

Arriva have produced their own for the 254 and 255 (amongst others) in the recent past which were also available onboard and may do so again, as for the 278 they may just provide a photocopied sheet, which in my view is better than nowt.

There is the problem which is the Dalesbus timetable which I do think would be the only one of a few (the others being the MetroLocals and the two Daytripper services - the 10 and the 951) which would be kept but I honestly think that the scrapping of the West Yorkshire rail timetables will be the start of it though, hence why I do think that in the near future the bus timetables will go too.

There's so many timetable, & or route changes in WY that single book would be out of date with in a couple of weeks of it being produced.

One thing i have noticed is how slow Metro are getting paper bus timetables in stock after changes, i went to Leeds a couple of weeks ago a few days after the October 30th changes, & timetables for a lot of routes were still out of stock at Leeds City Bus Station Metro office.
