The 4th ex WMT 323 has entered service with Northern today, 323219 makes it debut working between Liverpool and Wigan.

Also saw a comment on a Facebook post (323/730) that suggests 323214 is coming off lease with WMT next Friday.

Can anyone help me please ?

I am making my first visit to the Midlands for many years tomorrow (7th August) and if possible would like to photo a 323 in their WM Orange colours. It seems they are very rare now, but could anyone tell me the best place to go from BHM to see them and does anyone have any up to date diagrams for them this week ?

Thanks !

It's out! Just caught it on the 14:12 off Northfield towards Bromsgrove.

Good to see it back

Glad to see 214 back in service. I presume it will only be out for a day or two, as it is apparently going off lease later this week?

323's operate three out of the eleven Crosscity M-Sa diagrams, and these have remained the same since 22Jul. Two operate Four Oaks-Redditch and one Lichfield TV-Bromsgrove. The Redditch diagram repeats every 2h30m and the Bromsgrove every 3h.

I created a 'ready reckoner' for Kings Norton, which I shared on this thread and repeat here. It has never let me down. Note though, it's not an exact timetable - the real thing may be a minute or two out either way.

Wherever you decide to go use RTT, Traksy or Railcam, to find the headcode and see whether it is on the list.

I can't promise you won't get the special green Centro liveried unit (323221) but I don't think it's been out for a few days.

There are plenty of places to get shot's.
Hope you are successful.

Here is my Kings Norton 323 ready reckoner for the three Soho weekday diagrams starting today.
Diagrams 1 and 2 are as before. Diagrams 3 and 4 are now worked by 730's. Diagram5 is the new Bromsgrove diagram.

Observations Tuesday 06th August 2024.
Redditch to Four Oaks
323215 solo
323222 solo

Bromsgrove to Lichfield:
323211 323214, till 09am at Birmingham New Street, 323211 failure,
From 1206 at Birmingham New Street, 323240 323214 onwards.

323211 fails again, 3rd time in a week,
However, it speculation. or is it true as mentioned, is 323214 only here, to the end of this week??
Maybe 323214 can only work as a pair, but even so could be in a better condition than 323211??

An alternative to @crosscity 's table above is to look at the class 730 diagrams, then avoid them!
As far as I'm aware, the following list is correct. Heading north from Selly Oak in the morning, south from New Street in the evening.
Screenshot_20240806-193648.png
xx23/xx53 departures in both directions are Bromsgrove trains, 3hour diagram as mentioned above (ie: 1623 from BHM is the same diagram as 1923), any other time is a Redditch diagram (2.5hrs)

221 was working yesterday early evening, saw it heading north towards Kings Norton.

When I witnessed 323214 , with 323240, today Tuesday 06th August 2024, 323214 has lost its Soho depot labels on the side, plus it's name Wylde Green, still has side West Midlands Railways and logos on the side, however it's name Wylde Green and Soho lmd labels have been removed and gone. Since I last observed it on The Monday 08th July 2024, with the soho lmd depot stickers and Wylde Green name still applied when 323240 took it to Soho from Wolverton.
On another note 323240, must be the most reliable 323 on Wmr at the Moment
