Prediction is England 1 Germany 2 after extra time. Score will be 1 all after 90 mins.

Pleasently surprised with the end result, and in typical fashion missed both England goals. (Note to self, be more optimistic when making predictions about England).

Sweden vs Ukraine is feeling like groundhog day at the moment, can see it going to penalties no doubt

Edit: ignore what i've just said about it going to penalties

Ukraine have won it at the death. 2-1.

I’ll take that, and I’ll take them having to play a draining extra time.
I’m not going to get complacent here but this tournament is seriously opening up now.

Happy with Ukraine having played 120 minutes. I am never complacent with England. We can easily cock this up!

Do Ukraine have any players left after that?

That tackle, the replay was awful, I mean his leg almost got snapped in half, but I think it's a harsh red as he got the ball. I can see why they gave a red but I think it could have been a yellow as well.

If that isn't a red, nothing is. He was reckless, high, and it was only luck that he got some of the ball before the man. That follow-through was a potential career-ender.

Even more than reckless, if it's deemed to have been a red card offence, then the match official(s) will have considered that the offending Swedish player has exceeded the necessary use of force and has endangered the safety of his Ukrainian opponent.

Essentially it was serious foul play. o_O

IF we did beat Ukraine who are the choice of teams we might meet in the next game?

I may be English but am not as happy with that result as might be expected: if Germany had gone on to win the tournament I would have gone on to win £60 in the work sweepstake which would have done very nicely.

Winners of the earlier Czech Republic v Denmark QF also being played on Saturday (Baku 5.00 pm).

Czech Republic/Denmark v England/Ukraine semi final is then scheduled for Wednesday 7th July 2021 at Wembley (8.00 pm).

Latest odds today from Ladbrokes to win Euro2020

2/1........England
3/1........Spain
4/1........Italy
13/2......Belgium
9/1........Denmark
22/1......Switzerland
25/1......Czech Republic
33/1......Ukraine

Out of the quarter finalists, there is only England, Belgium, and Switzerland that have never won the tournament since it began in 1960.

Spain won it in 1964, 2008, and 2012, Italy 1968, Denmark 1992 (after entering at the last minute due to the former Yugoslavia having withdrawn due to the Balkans conflict), Ukraine could be awarded half a mark as some of the former USSR side that won in 1960 were from the Ukraine, and Czech Republic (as Czechoslovakia) won in 1976.

Czech Republic (as Czechoslovakia) won in 1976.
Although the majority of that Czechoslovak side was Slovakian. Quite surprising when you consider how the Czech side has invariably been stronger than the Slovak side since the 2 countries 'divorced' in 1993.

Was one of the Ukrainians who scored a goal against Sweden wearing a bra?!

No, they are undervests used for GPS player performance tracking purposes.
I assume these are similar to the ones rugby players wear? Except the rugby players merely have a little pocket on the back of the shirt for the tracker rather than a whole additional garment.

Not seen the rugby ones, to be fair. The soccer ones have been in general use for roughly six years. The tracker gizmo is usually contained in a little pouch at the top of a player's back, and the undervest has an element of built in padding in case the player ever falls and lands on the device, which must happen from time to time. o_O

https://www.the42.ie/gps-technology-rugby-1113025-Oct2013/ Is an article describing them, with photos that show where they go on the rugby shirt. Sounds pretty much the same place.

that is just buying business. England cant be 2/1.

I'd put them the 4th best team left in after (in Alphabetical Order) Belgium, Italy and Spain.

Ukraine could be a re-run of Argentine "Animals" from 1966 ?

I still can't believe the Dutch got knocked out.

Two factors:

- the weight of patriotic money

- the view that England have the easiest QF and would then have an easier semi- final than whichever teams make it through the other half of the draw

Indeed. Hopefully there have been no repetition in the print media today of this infamous and jingoistic 1996 "Daily Mirror" front cover.

Speaking of front pages I just saw today's cover of the S*n. Vile rag but it did make me chuckle.

I would have thought it would have been better to have done a Ukraine based headline, like "We're no chickens... Kiev" or "You're from Cry-mea"
