The German squad have apparently agreed that the whole squad will be paid the same amount, whether they're a defender or an attacker...

Because what's good for the Gosens is good for the Ginter!

Any views on Harry Kane's first half performance?
Touched the ball about three times in 45 minutes, until stoppage time when he managed to not score when it would be harder to miss.

Southgate is far too defensive, too scared of being public enemy number one in tomorrow's papers.

Good tonic that for the doomsayers. Never. In. Doubt.

Pleasantly surprised. Bring on Saturday but if he intends on playing the same system it needs Grealish to come in for Saka (despite being good for the first 45) in my opinion. Not that it means anything, there's a reason i'm not in charge!

Seriously enjoyed the final 15 seconds of the game. Was progressively eating my shirt until then (even after Kane got the second.) Need to dry it out before walking home.

Still not sure how Muller missed. That was the moment that Germany usually win the game. Still cant believe we beat a Germany team at a tournament. it was like the roles were reversed.

I instantly recant all my criticisms of Southgate!
Snap. I am not going to complain about sideways backwards sideways backwards from England again. You just carry on lads.
  • Want to play 2 defensive midfielders every game? No problem.
  • A centre forward who looks like he is towing a caravan. Sweet.
  • Right back at left back. Go for it.
  • Leave the best players out? Crack on.

We know nowt. Do what you like Gareth

Applicable both in the pundits thread and also here, Jurgen Klinsmann is pure class. Remember him coming here for his first stint with Spurs and everyone saying he was too soft, a diving cheat and couldn't cut it in a physical league such as what the Premier League was back then. He was immense and still was when he returned at the end of his career and kept them up.

Excellent player, excellent pundit and most likely a thoroughly nice bloke as well.

Yep. I’m very pleased that my predictions carry on being terrible... I’m so happy with that result that I’ve just cracked open a bottle of bubbly! :)

Couldn’t agree more.

Meanwhile in other news, Ukraine 1 up, but not for long.

So, my eldest son is absolutely convinced that England are going to win the euros now. He’s 23. I’ve clearly failed as a parent

Both of our lads are too (18 and 19 years old) and they think the same. I’m old, pessimistic and have been beaten down over the years by it (England that is, not life in general ;)), so hopefully that generation are more in touch than I am these days and see something that I’m a bit scared to?

Then I shall have another glass and hopefully I won’t remember being overly enthusiastic tomorrow.
These posts get wiped after a couple of days anyway right?

Edit - German players in tears being comforted after a match against England today. I did see that earlier didn’t I?
I’m still reeling I think.

We could do with the Ukraine v Sweden game going to penalties - nice and tiring

Muller looked completely confused. He couldn't quite compute that he had failed to score. It honestly looked like they had no idea how to process a defeat, especially to England!

It also brings in a new era for the Germans after 15 years. No more having to watch Bogie Low picking his arse or scratching his balls before sniffing his fingers. Every cloud and all that!

The Ukraine-Sweden match is pretty boring unlike this time yesterday. Also I think Ukraine would be a tougher challenge than Sweden for England
