On this occasion the promotion runs until 26 June (or 930 discounted gift cards are sold) and up to 10 only one discounted £50/£100 gift card per Google Play account may be purchased.

I've not tried buying a second card myself but that's what I see.

It said £90. I just tried to buy a £50 card (which was shown as £45) and again I couldn't buy it.

On reading the terms again they say "valid for a single transaction only" so that's probably why.

They also say "limit 10 per Google Account, per purchase" which I thought was for this particular promotion. Perhaps it's an overarching all-brand gift card limit for each account.

Not as far as I can tell. I've looked at the profile menu whilst viewing the Play Store on a PC and there's no link to the gift card section.

I got a message from Uber yesterday as bought about £200 of tickets and then couldn't use my Uber Money balance anymore. Apparently there is a £200 limit each day when purchasing with Uber Money credit, presumably anti-money laundering measures.

I was just reading a thread on this on hotukdeals.com. Apparently some people have been getting the spend value sent to them, instead of the card value e.g. spending £51 for a £60 gift card and being sent a gift card for £51. Hopefully, Amazon will sort it out. I'm assuming the minimum value gift card purchaseable is £50 on this particular deal?

I was about to say the same from personal experience. If it's relevant, Amazon cancelled my first order then suspended my account on the second order - I suspect that they saw me signing up to Prime on a special offer in the last 72 hours as a problem.

Edited to add: once I had managed to find online chat with Amazon, they refunded the remaining £15 as an Amazon voucher with no problem. I can't use it against Uber, but I guess that I will be able to use it without too much difficulty in the near future.

this issue appears to have been resolved as of at least yesterday when I purchased a gift card for 15% off and the full value came through as expected.

Yes also showing as 3% for me. Seems to be a glitch as the Ts and Cs say UberOne members should get 10% till at least the end of August.

They do seem to be prone to glitches like this.

Seems to have fixed itself now. I have just submitted my first ticket change request, lets see how long it takes for them to reply

I mean, it's pretty clear it's always been a loss leading way of gaining market share. Even though it doesn't directly cost them cash as they offer vouchers/credits, it's still money off further bookings that they are forfeiting.

And for me though I’m not sure “sadly” is the right word. I would be sorry not to have the discount any longer, but part of me would be glad to have the simplicity of commuting door to door with contactless.

Or I suppose I’d need to mess around with flexi seasons again, so maybe sadly is the right word after all!

Even without the Uber credits, the ability to buy rail tickets with gift cards purchased at 10 or 15 per cent less than face value would still be an attractive proposition.

I can't see these lasting, especially not the former.

Uber has surely been making substantial losses aimed at building a customer base for the rail ticket part of the company, as well as - crucially - encouraging wider use of their other products.

I'd rather use a site that offers useful features and excellent customer service, such as the forum site.

We wouldn't team up with a provider as poor as Uber if they paid us to. It's full of glitches and people only use them for discounts/cashback, which their financial backers can't afford to fund indefinitely.

Interestingly I just tried to change my peak advance to peak on a different day which is usually easy but this time it is only offering to change it to off peak advance trains, despite there being plenty of advances available on peak trauns. Hopefully this is just a glitch.

Well the survey is there, maybe naive but there is a chance there to make the point that you'll stop using them if they remove the rewards. It isnt like their taxi business where in lots of places it is genuinely either the only option or the most convient option - so if they actually do want to continue selling rail tickets they'll nees it to be the at least good for something!
