Is it at all likely that Uber will start offering weekly or monthly season tickets anytime soon or is there some reason why this isn’t possible?
I'll bite, although please note that I have no knowledge at all so this is a thoroughly uninformed guess...

I think the quick answer is 'no'. In no particular order

- while Uber is clearly trying to buy business (stack discounts on gift cards and Uber One together, and you may be talking about a 20% discount) there's only so far even they will be prepared to go. If a monthly season ticket is £500 then the 20% discount is £100 - an amount that accountants will begin to notice
- how big is the season ticket market? Is it worth Uber upgrading their system to cope?
- is this a market they want to be in? My impression is that (leaving aside the ambition to secure the entire minicab market with driverless cabs) Uber want to get the end-to-end, one-off market (when I buy a train ticket, they encourage me to book a cab from my destination station): they're not very interested in commuters.
- (edited to add): Uber don't seem struck on handling large sums to avoid fraud - see the discussion earlier in this thread about when security checks kick in. Season tickets by definition cost some multiples of single/return tickets so might be larger sums than Uber wants

Overall, I see lots of negatives for Uber and few positives. So I think they won't bother.

They would need a separate category of retailing licence to sell season tickets. The financial arrangements are more complicated since, if I'm not mistaken, the revenue from a season ticket is 'drip fed' to the operator(s) your ticket entitles you to use as its validity goes on, rather than being paid to them all up front.

The commission rates on selling season tickets are also lower than for single/return tickets, so they may not consider it financially viable without charging a booking fee. I'm happy to be corrected but as far as I'm aware, Trainline are the only third party B2C retailer selling season tickets.

It looks like the Uber One Member Days Promotion is running again from 15th to 24th May.

Which should see a 20% rebate on rail fares and rides.

Uber One subscribers can now share their membership with other people in their household.

You may add one (1) additional adult account and as many teenager accounts as are in your family profile.

Changes to Family sharing benefit

  • Adult members: The primary account holder can replace the second adult member once per calendar year.
  • Teenager accounts: Teenager accounts will be removed from the shared benefit upon reaching adulthood (18) if a second adult member is already active on the plan.

Pricing & Payment

Family sharing is currently available at no additional cost to the primary or secondary member.

This feature does not impact individual payment methods. All members are treated as individual users for their respective trips and orders; they will use their own set payment methods and do not need to share billing information. The primary account holder's payment details will not appear on the added family member's account.

Eligibility

Uber One members on regular monthly or annual paid plans are eligible for this benefit.

Ineligible plan types include:
  • Preview, Uber One for Students, and free or extended trials.
  • Partner offers, iFood Bundle (Brazil only) and Uber for Business or Government memberships.

I'm currently the +1 on a relative's UO membership and am eligible for the aforementioned Member Days benefits (20% rebate etc) as well.

Uber One members can also buy a maximum of 2 x Uber gift cards through the app with 10% off during the Member Days promotion dates you mention.

Have you tested that this works to send a gift card to yourself? I never quite trust Uber on the details.

I'm planning to buy a couple of smaller balance cards later, which will hopefully not require these potential verification checks.

Is rather silly, as gift cards can only be purchased. It isn't like it is very easy to steal them, as it requires someone, or a system to add the credit to the gift card.
Added the two £150 gift cards a day apart and no issues. However when I use the credit it asks me to put in my password for over £10 transactions. I have to be careful to get my password right as it locks my account after 3 attempts and the call to customer services is inconvenient!

The gift card deal stacks with the 10% rebate on Uber rides via PayPal+ which pushes the effective saving on rail tickets up to 39%

(Spotted this tip on the Head for Points forum)

What is that with PayPal+.

When I had a look it just mentions points - one point for every £10 spent.

Well that's clear as mud (the offer shows but is useless when the ticket is £2.50 more than it should be. Does anyone else have the offer and it's working correctly?)
So, I initially had contacted them with the wrong email address for me, so they didn't think I had the offer. Tried again yesterday, the discount showed but then at payment stage the price went back up again! I'd actually booked for the wrong day anyway so luckily it gave me a good reason to push for a cancellation and full refund! Annoying as would have been nice with the current 20% credit too!

Can anyone confirm if a journey has to be booked AND completed within the promotion window, in order to get the 20% cashback.

Someone on Reddit has claimed they have booked tickets until August, and they will get 20% back on those tickets. Even though this will be way after the promotion ends

Yes, you get the 20% on anything booked during the promotion regardless of travel date, so long as you also have Uber One at the time of travel.

The rebate is clearly set out during the checkout process.

I *think* what I did last time (on an Android phone) was to
- go into Wallet
- at the top of the screen is my Uber Money balance
- immediately below that is a '+ Gift Card' button
- I entered the code on the screen that brought up.
Can confirm above method also starts the process of satisfying the verification check if one is triggered. Doing it via email/message link it tells you to access the "more options" section in your Wallet instead if a check if triggered, which is unhelpful because that section doesn't exist.

In my case the prior monthly limit was revealed as £150 upon my initial attempt to add a second £100 gift card.

I suspect many of the ID check problems mentioned here are due to the standard account limits imposed.

What is the process involved in raising the limits?

Do you have to provide an image of qualifying ID, such as a driving licence, or is this check done automatically behind the scenes?

It is pointless purchasing a £200 gift card if your deposit limit is £150 a month, and total balance limit is not allowed to be greater than £150.

Does the balance limit also include cashback? So if you are sitting on say £15 of cashback credits, you wouldn't be able to add a £150 gift card without verification.

According to Uber, "you can add up to £3,000 in Uber Money to your account (subject to KYC* checks)". I supplied my name / DOB / postal address and the KYC check happened in the background, though others may involve requests to supply a form of ID.

Does the balance limit also include cashback? So if you are sitting on say £15 of cashback credits, you wouldn't be able to add a £150 gift card without verification.
I don't think it does. The credits fall under a separate balance from Uber Money.

Why do tickets bought through Uber show as payment method W, even if paid fully on card? Is it a weird behind-the-scenes accounting/settlement quirk?

(Appreciate it’s of no real consequence, just my curiosity has been piqued and thought I’d ask as someone here is bound to know!)

The retention offers for Uber One membership seem rather naff nowadays.

I cancelled my Uber One membership and was only offered £2 off next six trips (valid for three months). Guessing the £2 off was only for Taxis.

Trying to purchase Uber Gift Cards during the10% off promotion in the App, screwed my current account temporarily.

Attempt one: Had to approve purchase in banking app. When I returned to Uber App, had a spinning circle that didn't move on, even after five, or so minutes. Aborted transaction and was not charged from Bank Account. Although the money was showing as reserved for a while.

Attempt two: Purchase went through after authorising in Bank App, purchased a £150 gift card. Money deducted from Bank Account.

Attempt Three: Tried to purchase another £150 Gift Card. Had to authorise payment in app again. Once I did this and went back to Uber, a message came up stating I had already purchased the maximum two gift cards allowed!

I certainly didn't!

Transaction did not go through, but money reserved in account for a while.

I later received a call from my Bank saying my card was temporarily blocked, and did I recognise the transactions. Essentially £450 had been reserved for deduction - however £150 only came out in the end.

The above is why I very much prefer buying items such as Gift Cards in physical form. None of these potential issues that can cause problems with your Bank account.

Indeed, had none of these problems when I previously purchased £200+ of Uber Gift Cards in the recent Sainsbury's offering in-store.

Thanks for the heads-up.

The gift card section is on the profile page for those wondering, alternatively scan the QR code on https://play.google.com/store/giftcards

The offer is 10% off £50 gift cards, limited to 2 such purchases per account. Offer has an overall limit as well - £1500 worth of discounts claimed (300 cards sold) or by Sunday, whichever happens sooner.

More good news from 15 June train bookings will earn 2 Avios per pound instead of 1 (although normal UberX, taxi, and Coach will now earn nothing) https://www.headforpoints.com/2026/06/02/avios-and-uber-rides-shake-up-their-partnership/
For rides in the UK (different rules will apply in Ireland) you will earn:

  • 3 Avios per £1 spent on Uber Reserve (rides booked in advance)
  • 2 Avios per £1 spent on rides to/from an airport
  • 2 Avios per £1 spent on Uber XL, Uber Exec, Uber Lux, Uber Comfort, Uber Exec XXL and black cab trips
  • 2 Avios per £1 spent on rail tickets, including Eurostar

Prime Day [sic] is 23-26 June so there's a strong chance of a 10% discount on Uber gift cards via Amazon later this month

I'm trying to change the time of an advance ticket on the uber app, it's giving my options to change the ticket free of charge but the time is way off.
Original ticket was 0652 Dunblane to Dalwhinnie on the 30th of June priced £28.50. Tried changing it to the 6th of July and the earliest its offering is 1847!
The ticket is still available on the forum site for the same price at the same time on the new date.

I just looked up that journey in the Uber app and it gave me the same, but then showed the 0652 when I selected 'earlier' a couple of times.

No matter how many times I select earlier it just shows this which makes no sense, an earlier train sandwiched between two later ones!

The 1841 isn't later, it's the previous day!

The early train is still available on Uber at the same price, so it's strange that it's not showing for changing the ticket.

yeah most odd, I'll give 'em a bell after lunch.

Got this sorted in the end, they said to buy a new ticket and then they refunded the original one. A bit long-winded but fair play to them they are pretty helpful :)
