The promo is right on the top of the headforpoints website and they say

"I’m not sure if this is still the case, but Uber used to try to encourage you to redeem your gift card by putting it into an Uber Money account. This used to involve a credit search. Instead, add it under ‘Promotional Code’ in the app and (if nothing has changed) it goes onto your balance as it always used to."
As I was obliged to set up an Uber Money account, this method no longer works. It just goes in the Uber Money balance.

I'm still seeing traditional Uber gift cards with a 10% discount.

Although can anyone confirm if this card would be eligible for Train fare purchases.
It should be eligible, but after my recent travails I wouldn't recommend buying one for that purpose.

I was able to successfully buy a ticket using Uber Money and Uber Credits this morning.

Similar to James H’s experience above (post 379), just before clicking Buy I went into payment options and manually re-enabled using Uber Balances (which keeps switching itself off).

Back on the Buy screen, the interface then implied I would be using £0.00 Uber Balances plus credit card, but in fact the whole fare was paid from Uber Balances (a combination of Uber Money and Uber Credit).

Hopefully this is a bug which will be fixed soon.

I was about to say everything in paragraphs 1, 2 and 4 - but I didn't pay enough attention to agree or disagree with para 3...

I also had to put in my password before payment was taken.

Be careful what you wish for - there's a good chance that still taking the money from balances is the bug.

True! Though I take some comfort in the fact that the Help section is still very clear that you can use Uber Money for train tickets. In any event, I won't be adding any more money to my Uber Money balance for the time being.

Travelcard options still show for me.

However, one option that does not show is the 'Evening Out' Travelcard, which is considerably cheaper.

Evening Out (non Travelcard) tickets do show though.
They're just so consistently inconsistent!

I agree. I can't work them out at all.

At least I guess I'm in the fortune position I don't mind Uber having access to my money until I spend them on my once in blue moon taxi ride or takeaway if that's what it takes.

For those who never use Uber for anything other than booking a train or coach, I think exercising a lot of caution is probably wise.

My Uber balance has returned to the review page and as with other posters it was properly redeemed against today's booking so it appears the bug has been dealt with. Were it not for Fawkes Cat's previous post I may not have learned of it in the first place

Any plans to add regional railcards @alistairlees ? Apparently there have been some issues with some people just using an equivalent national discount instead in the likes of West Yorkshire/South Yorkshire.

It might be worth checking emails as Uber sent me a £5 off my next train ticket purchase yesterday. My better half had a slightly different promotion with £5 off if she makes 2 different train ticket purchases from Uber, on separate days, on or before 31/1/2026.

On a minimum spend of £50.

Does anyone know how to access this without an Android device?

When I tried this link it told me it’s only accessible with an Android device:
Play store is pretty fundamentally part of the Android ecosystem, and part of the reason they are pushing it is to promote Android/Play as a value proposition. I'd be surprised if you could do it without an Android.

Is this offer still running?

Don't see any indication of 10% off when I look at the gift card details, or does this show up on the payment screen.

It looks to have ended. They tend to cycle through the offers so it’s likely it will come round again

I think they were offering me 10% off all gift cards last time I went on the Play Store. It's Google, so it will likely be simultaneously both personal to you and completely arbitrary.

Uber gift cards back on 10 per cent discount at Amazon
Do these work for trains? I seem to remember having trouble using it because it wasn't uber cash, it was counted counted as uber money, and not as flexible

Yes, it works now. It gets added to your Uber Money balance which can be spent on trains. But Uber is fickle and this could presumably change anytime so buyer beware!

They do work, but the app's semi-regular glitches make it difficult at times. I'd suggest reading this thread from post #299 onwards for background on this if you have the time.

I wish to buy a stoke to Euston ticket, London North western changing at Stafford. This is only £9 on various ticketing sites, but Uber isn't showing it, only direct Avanti services. Anyone know a way to get it to show?

I don't think so. Earlier this year I had the same issue with a Milton Keynes -> Liverpool journey and had to book it elsewhere.

It doesn't help that only the basic criteria (origin, destination, date/time, passenger(s) and Railcard) are available as means of initially determining bookable services.

I was unable to buy a ticket with Uber Money/Credits again this morning. The payment failed until I switched off those payment methods. Help still says that Uber Money is valid for train tickets. Hopefully a glitch. I will call them today.

I had the same problem this morning. I phoned them up and they said they couldn't do anything on the phone and they just sent me an email with a link to Uber help in the website.

I called through to Omio - they understood my point but were not aware of an issue and asked me to email a screenshot. They gave me the email address ubersupport@omio.com which may be useful for future reference. If it’s still not working tomorrow I will send a screenshot (I don’t want to do it now in case it works and I’m stuck with tickets I don’t need).

As long as you do it before the original Advance ticket departure time it should be fine.
Thats what I thought but it refused to do it this morning an hour before departure (and also before departure from the origin station of the train too.
