all stations between Exmouth and Exton
and st James to Exeter central, but not the other way round
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Please explain - is there some strange physical phenomenon in the area of which we ought to be aware?

st James to Exeter central is the same, cant tell you why, always perplexed me as well

You can see Little Sutton, Overpool and almost certainly Stanlow & Thornton from Ellesmere Port. Indeed when I first arrive at Little Sutton to wait for a Liverpool train, having been given a lift by the missus, I check whether I can see the white light at the front of the EMU at Ellesmere Port station. If its not there I divert to Hooton.

Ince & Elton is on the same dead straight line, but is not visible as it is hidden by the small summit between there and Stanlow.

I would have said Codsall/Bilbrook and Dunster/Minehead, but these have been mentioned IIRC.

You can see the terminus at Seaford from Bishopstone; note the lack of tail/headlights at the platform; realise your train has been cancelled and drive instead.

At one of the West Coastway stations - Portslade, perhaps? - you can see the adjacent stations in both directions.

I'm surprised it's got this far without someone mentioning Folkestone West and Central.

I noticed recently that you can clearly see Denham from Denham Golf Club (and vice versa) as long as it is a clear day and it is during the daytime and was wondering if there are any other stations like this? Stations such as seeing London Kings Cross from London St Pancras and seeing Catford from Catford Bridge dont count. I am looking for stations on the same lines. I cant think of any others but i am sure that there are some more?

Not sure, but from Frizinghall you can almost see both Bradford Forster Square and Shipley.

I'm not sure which thread to put it in, so I've put it in both

I'm pretty sure it was somewhere on the central line ( I think Holborn and somewhere else, or somewhere like that) where that applies

On the Met Line, from Pinner I can see the trains at North Harrow station

On London Overground, you can see Harrow Wealdstone from Headstone Lane, but I'm not sure about it from the other way round and you can see North Wembley from South Kenton and v.v

London Overground - Headstone Lane and Harrow Wealdstone, North Wembley -South Kenton

London Underground - North Harrow - Pinner

Somewhere on the central line too, near Holborn / Liverpool Street. I'm not sure where

I didn't think you could - the gradient and roof of the tunnel at City get in the way?

You can just seen the front of a train in P2 at Blackfriars from the south end of the northbound platform at City.

The Central Line example is between Chancery Lane and Holborn in one direction. However, it is inadvisable to stand close enough to the platform edge to try it (and unsettling for staff and other passengers who may misinterpret what is being attempted).
