1005/06/09/12/18-20 all entered service this morning on the 1 group in Harrogate, various photos of them now appear on social media and Flickr. Although 1006 had an unspecified issue on its first run and hasn't been tracked since. They all look very smart indeed, with chrome wheel trims and subtle silver effects on the new-style red-based livery.

Paul Turner suggested more are due this week so the number in service should increase quickly (and reduce the pressure on elsewhere in the group as the B7RLEs are dispersed).

Seems a few workings were lost due to 1006s failure (cruically during the am peak) and no fill in provided. They ultimately covered it by reverting to the old rosta with route 1 vehicles swopping their route at Harrogate instead of the new rosta brought in with the timetable change of vehicles stayng on the same service for large parts of the day. 801 went out of service early again, along with 804 not having worked since Friday.

I'm looking forward to the new electrics appearing on route 7 (Harrogate-Leeds via Wetherby).
The 7 is currently rostered with single deckers with double deckers appearing at times. Will this arrangement continue with the new buses, and are some older vehicles to be retained in reserve in case of failure once the full electric fleet is delivered?

The comment from Paul Turner quoted in posting 4462 would leave two of the to be retained B7RLEs at Starbeck (7 are to be withdrawn = the H*ESU registered ones) along with 5 Geminis. The eCitraros were ordered before the 7 was reduced to hourly so there should be some spare each day.

Why would there be a need to keep older vehicles? Fleets would keep continuously getting larger if that happened every time new buses arrived!

Because of capacity issues. Sometimes a double decker is required. Also because of the unreliability of battery buses. A brand new one broke down on it's first day. That doesn't bode well. When the Volvo battery buses were first introduced were they not sometimes clogging up the centre of Harrogate as they ran out of electricity short of the bus station? They have continued not to have the best reliability record haven't they? And haven't there been issues with running out of electricity with the battery test bus on the 7 route?

There are a lot of cancellations. If there were some spare buses, perhaps those could be reduced?

1867 has now entered service on the Coastliner today, operating on the 843 all the way up to Scarborough! Certainly a downgrade in capacity from the Geminis that are usually operating up to Scarborough.

New vehicles do sometimes have teething issues, 1006 was back in service this lunchtime.

The single deckers only go past York if there is no alternative. And yes, they are a massive downgrade in customer experience.

The duty its on ends at Leeds so could it simply be a weird way of moving it in service to York; it along two others are for the York-Leeds shorts and the Versa currently in use on thsoe are to go back to the leasing company,

If I was to hazard a guess I’d say that on a day like today, it probably coped ok

I wonder if an update to the Transdev Go update will ever be released or if they'll end up having to admit defeat and release another new app using a different developer (or perhaps even just ask the old ones!), looking at the current developers many, many of their other apps (Basically most seem a copy and paste job with different graphics stuck on top to suit the operator!) the last update to anything was 6 months ago now!

Not sure if they can update the pricing in the app without requiring an app update itself, if not they've probably got a slight issue when the £3 cap comes along in January as app customers will still be able to purchase for £2!

I also gather it was driven back to the depot after its failure, without the need for the tow truck.

Four more eCitaros are coming up from Coventry(?) today apparently.

I seem to recall the app and website are done by the same company. I am sure Transdev have it all in hand in that they will know if an update is coming or will be busy getting out of the contract to get a new company in.

It seems that this is due to 3636 being off the road for over a week. As a result, 212 was on 840s going up Thornton-le-dale today.

Surely needs more than one decker to be unavailable for a Versa or B7RLE to be used and so it seems as 3637 has not tracked sensibly this week, 3632 stopped tracking at Heworth on the 0625 Malton-Leeds and then tracked only between York and Malton and 3638 only tracked as far as York on the 1210 840 from Leeds.

I believe there has been some snow around Whitby today so it’s quite likely some 840 journeys were disrupted or suspended

Are the teething problems continuing? There was a man in a yellow hi-viz looking at a new Citaro battery bus this evening around 7:20pm at Harrogate bus station. "Not in Service" appeared on the display even though it was on the stand for the 1 service to Knaresborough and passengers seemed to be being turned away.

Did any vehicles get stuck due to the short spell of heavy Snow/Blizzard conditions yesterday?, I know that Arriva North East and East Yorkshire were having problems keeping their Scarborough and Whitby services running with some running up-to 2 hours late and some abandoning journeys mid route due to conditions.

840s up to Whitby were suspended, with them terminating at Thornton instead and lingering around for roughly 2 hours until their return journey to Leeds.
Due to severe weather conditions, #Coastliner 840 will not be running from Thornton-le-Dale to Whitby today

ℹ️ The journey will be terminating at Thornton-le-Dale

We apologise for any inconvenience

It doesn't look like it, the first 840 to Whitby got as far as the Fox & Rabbit and then turned round and came back to Pickering, and after that Coastliner cancelled all services beyond Thornton-le-Dale for the rest of the day. It looks like one Arriva X4 came off the road near Lythe but as far as I know no-one was hurt.

211 is back on 840s up to Thornton-le-Dale, whilst this has happened before, 2424 is operating on the short 843s between York and Leeds. This makes no sense, surely it makes sense for the decker (2424) to operate on the longer (and often busier) 840 and have the Versa (211) operate on the shorts between York and Leeds and not the other way round? What's going on?

Yes that makes sense unless of course 2424 wasn’t available to work the 840. It came out as a changeover mid morning.

Or is just ticket machines wrongly programmed? At Harrogate Volvo Electric 804 is fooling people iinto thinking a Volvo Starbus coming as its been tracking as 2104 for a week at least. Meanwhile Volvo Electric 801 apparently has spend too days working the 36 !

To add to the potential confusion the real 2104 is very much in service on the usual school runs. Is there any point in us enthusiasts making any attempt to remind operators of where such situations exist? What, if anything, do the rules around BODS say about it?

And a minor correction: the Starbuses are Omnidekkas built on Scania chassis, not Volvo.

Apologies re the Scanias - long day typo.

How difficult is to change the bus id on a ticket machine? There have been occurances of withdrawn B7RLEs tracking as well.

Not noted here is 3626 being involved in a RTC last Thursday colliding with a lorry at Harewood Bridge. Apparently no injuries to the driver or passengers but the bus needs front end attention at least with only the offside light panel seemingly unaffected below the shattered windscreen.
