This DMU cascade - what is actually going on?

He means lengthened to be a single unit 6-car formation, with a continous corridor through, I think. A sort of "mega-pacer" unit.

Then they could build a train line on a slight gradient at Alton Towers and use the 6 car Pacers on it for a ride scarier than The Hex.

That's it :lol:

It'd only take a tin-opener to cut through the cab ends, then you have yourself a ninety metre long commuter unit, equivalent to a four car 150 in length (roughly), even if they only use them as peak extras (once new DMUs are ordered/ electrifications sorted out).

There's still a little life in the damned things

They still have to have level boarding by 2019, thats a pretty major refurb that the ROSCO's may decide wont be reclaimed over their remaining life.
