I was too slow double checking the times - pity - the next participant could have been on the 2359 coach to London rather than pacing the streets of suburban Plymouth

We decide to call it a day for travelling.

However on our way to find a hotel twenty slighty drucken sailors call us a 'cad' and we respond by beating them all up and with the street littered with sailors we continue on our hotel search.

However some picky CCTV operater has spotted our scrap and calls the police. We are arrested by Devon's finest boys in blue. We plead self defence but alas without success.
A roof over our head is at least sought.

After a good breakfast we leave our cell and are let go after several of the sailors come and tell the Police we should be freed as 20 against 1 was damn good show.

So refreshed from our night in the cells we make it to the railway station to board the 1025 CrossCountry service to Glasgow Central arriving at 2015 on Monday evening

Yes, we are at Plymouth City Centre Viaduct at 2350 on Thursday. Waiting on the streets overnight in Elburton for the first morning bus to Plymouth would have been excessive when there was another service available later in the evening to the same destination.

As everything now seems to be back on an even keel......

A cold evening near to midnight on a Thursday night is not really one to be seeking onward omnibus connections, so we walk to the railway station and decide to wait for an early train to the Cornwall region. We eventually are rewarded and we board the 0543 FGW service to Truro that arrives at 0704 on Friday morning.

We surprise the verger at Truro Cathedral by being found waiting for the 0800 early service when the doors open at 0730, and after spiritual and then material refreshment in the Cathedral refrectory, we return to Boscawen St to await the 1025 Western Greyhound service No.550 to St Just-in-Roseland, where we arrive at 1118 on Friday morning.

While spending a bit of time here, enjoying the delights of a Cornish village, we then hop on the 11:52 First Devon & Cornwall service 50 to Truro Bus Station, arriving at 12:45 Friday Afternoon

We call into Marks and Spencer's Café Revive for a hot drink then return to board the 1315 First in Devon and Cornwall service 88 to Falmouth (opposite the Earle's Retreat) that arrives there at 1400 on Friday afternoon.

After a while of breathing in the sea air, we decide to walk to Falmouth Town Station, and jump on the 1450 First Great Western Service back to Truro arriving at 1518 Friday Afternoon

Surely an ideal time to make a cross-county omnibus journey whilst the light is good enough to enjoy the views, so we cross the road to the bus stand opposite to the railway station and board the 1524 First Devon and Cornwall service 14 to St Ives (Malakoff) that arrives there at 1655 on Friday afternoon.

After some fish and chips alongside St.Ives sea front, the seagulls came and attacked us and stole the rest of our chips. So we decided to make a run to St Ives station and board the 1803 First Great Western Service to St Erth, Arriving at 1817 Friday Evening

Going out to the bus stop at the station, we board the 1830 First Devon and Cornwall service 18 to Cambourne bus station, which arrives there at 1857 on Friday evening.

While in Cambourne, we notice we are getting tired, but need to get out of cornwall, so we take a stroll to cambourne station, and await the 22:07 First Great Western Sleeper Service to London Paddington, arriving at 0501 Saturday Morning

Eminently refreshed by the overnight ride on the sleeper and the sound sleep we had, we take our time to compose ourselves and to look presentable, before the need to check our onward options that apply on Saturday morning, which we decide will be to the land of the Red Dragon, so we board the 0745 FGW service to Neath that arrives at 1030 on Saturday morning.

Ever westward, we take the ATW 1042 departure to Clunderwen, arriving at 1208 on Saturday

Once again the lure of the omnibus proves to be too strong to resist, so we leave the railway station and find that as we have plenty of time to spare, we find somewhere to have a nourishing mid-day cooked meal followed by a double-helping home-cooked apple suet pudding with plenty of custard that had been made by the lady proprietor, washed down by copious cups of tea, before very slowly making our way to the bus stop near the War Memorial, where we board the 1345 Richards Brothers service 430 to Cardigan (Finch Square) that arrives there at 1442 on Saturday afternoon.

We decide that it's too long to wait for the delightfully named 'Poppit Rocket' bus and instead take Richard Bros service 50 at 340pm and travel to New Quay Park Street, arriving at 4.32pm Satuday afternoon

A short 20 minute wait before we board the 1652 Arriva Cymru service 50 to Aberystwyth bus station that arrives there at 1745 on Saturday afternoon.

The speed that we are heading northwards may well lead to an opportunity to wave to ourselves on the Closed Stations Journey quiz, which fortunately is still some distance to the north of us at present...

Having had such a large lunch, we just have a leisurely snack and drink before leaving on the 1930 ATW service to Welshpool, arriving at 2104 Saturday evening

We are due to pass through on the closed stations route but will be long gone by the time it gets here

We decide that we went rather too far in an easterly direction, so we go the other platform and soon it is time to board the 2204 ATW service to Caersws that arrives there at 2229 on Saturday evening.

Well we are pulled in both directions but the first transport out is the ATW service at 1033 next morning

So we take it to Birmingham International, arriving at 1256, Sunday afternoon.

After getting off the train, we decide to catch the 1339 NXWM 966 service to Edirdington arriving at 1427 Sunday afternoon, to join in with the All day Karaoke at the HQ Bar just off the high street

We take the short walk to Moor Street station and catch the LM service at 1522 to Henley in Arden, arriving 1605 Sunday afternoon

Time for Sunday afternoon refreshments and a perambulation around the local environs, then we decided that a good old fashioned slow all-stations rail journey is just what is required, so we return to the railway station and board the 1730 LM service to Worcester Shrub Hill that arrives there at 1915 on Sunday evening.

It is now becoming quite late on a Sunday evening, so we decide against a stroll to see the River Thames at close hand and cross over to the west-bound platforms and board the 2209 FGW service to Reading that arrives there at 2217 on Sunday evening.

Time for a late journey on the 2250 FGW service to Bristol Temple Meads arriving at 0011 on Monday.

We're not done for the night. After slowly ambling over to Marlborough Street for the bus station, we take a NX number 201 over the original Severn Road Bridge to Swansea bus station, departing 01.50, arriving 04.20.
