Time is drawing on, so we look to visiting a large settlement and board the 1935 Stagecoach in Oxfordshire service S1 to Oxford (Gloucester Green bus station) that arrives there at 2011 on Tuesday evening.

Paul, the S1 doesn't go near Tetbury Drive in Witney, in fact it's about 1km to the nearest S1 stop. Is this distance of walk allowed under the revised rules? :)

It certainly is NOT allowed. My posting is struck-though in its entirety. I was thinking of the matter yesterday where Witney was mis-spelt as Whitney and I had to put on my best Sherlock Holmes hat to enable me to solve that particular conundrum.

For my sins, I will sit out the next move.

After a swift pint (as the village its self is a walk down a hill on a narrow road), we catch the 18:59 Stagecoach in Oxfordshire service 233 from the White Hart to Witney, opposite Tetbury Drive, arriving there at 19:03 Tuesday evening

This posting remains as the next connection to be made with.

We dont have alot of choice here since that was the last bus of the day on that route. So we have little choice but to make a short walk through the housing estate to the bus stop at Witney, adj Windrush Valley. From here we can catch the 19:37 Stagecoach Oxfordshire S2 which we take as far as Carterton, opp Town Hall, arriving at 19:54 Tuesday evening

We might have a "walking" problem with the rules again.
Indeed we do, walking is only allowed to get to a different stop at the same location, for example crossing the road in order to travel in a different direction. As per void post rules we are at Witney, opposite Tetbury Drive at 19:03 on Tuesday and the 1 hour period starts from 1601.

It is the next nearest to the stop we're at, knowing the layout of Witney...

Walking
You may walk in order to change modes but you may not walk between stops of the same mode although you may walk to a different bus stop at the same location for example by crossing the road in order to travel in a different direction.

This extract from the rules gives something to think about. I have not officiallly called HOLD HOLD HOLD as that last posting may well have been given the chance for amendment. Perhaps Zoe has thoughts on the matter when a last bus has arrived, but some distance away, bus services are still running, as has been the raison d'etre of the last posting that was made. I do not think that we have met this problem before.

The idea of the game when first created was that you move around only by using public transport. The intention was that if you are left at a location where there isn't any further transport available then you would have to wait for the next available service.

Since the one-hour time period has now elapsed, the posting above again remains the one from which the next journey takes place.

Please also bear this adjudication in mind when making the next posting, please.

I was just trying to keep things moving. Otherwise an overnight wait in a housing estate would have been the only option. I checked the distance between the stops and its only going to be a 3minute walk max. I know I was the one who brought up the walking thing (and have indeed broken my own hatred towards it) but I was only trying to stop long distance walking. I would have thought a short walk can be taken if its the only option.

EDIT: I have now realised that I did indeed walk between stops of the same mode which is against the rules. Which does technically void my comment above. I've now dug my self into such a big hole I will most likely need a very long ladder to get out. Sorry folks

Indeed, There have often been cases where we have a bus stop with an bus in an hour, or a bus stop 3 or 4 minuites away with a bus service in about 10 minutes.

Now that all necessary adjudications have been made, we must stay at this bus stop, even though the last bus has gone to make the next journey. There is nothing stopping us seeking overnight accommodation, providing we return to this same bus stop...or one on the other side of the road.

Having found overnight accommodation and partaken of a cooked breakfast, we return to the bus stop that is across the road from the one we arrived at, where we board the first bus of the day in that direction, the 0720 Stagecoach in Oxfordshire service 233 to Milton-under-Wychwood that arrives there at 0750 on Wednesday morning.

This is quite good timing as we only have to wait six minutes before boarding the 0756 GoRide Cotswold Line Railbus service C1 to Charlbuy station arriving at 0827 on Tuedsay.

Unfortunately, we have insufficient time to catch the 08:31 FGW service to Hanborough, so have to wait until the 09:41 which gets us into Hanborough station at 09:48 on Tuesday

As we are changing platforms for an HST we realise we didn't leave the minimum connection time but we are happy to find out there is another service in a couple of minutes, so we board the 20:18 FGW Service to London Paddington arriving there at 21:16 Tuesday Evening

Oh no we don't, minimum connection time at Paddington is 15 minutes. As per void post rules, 1 hour period starts from 2023.

Missed that, sorry!

At Paddington, we wander down Praed Street into a couple of pubs and then it's back to Paddington to jump on the 23:33 FGW service to Culham, arriving there at 01:03 on Wednesday morning
