I think this short extract from the quiz rules should clarify matters for contestants relatively new to this quiz. The emphasis being a short walk when changing the mode of travel, but not from a bus stop in one part of a settlement to another bus stop on the other side of that settlement.

Indeed, i was not challenging the decision but merely explain, my mistake and i will learn from it.

So would a walk from, say Gladeside Road in Wythenshawe to Broadoak Road be considered valid (lets say we were changing from an Altrincham 18 to a Piccadilly 105), given that the two roads are about100 metres apart

At this time of night, we could have been stranded with Sunday being the following day, but we are fortunate to find there is another bus in just over 40 minutes, so we wait at the bus stop until we board the 2354 Oxford Bus Company service 4 to Oxford (New Road) that arrives there at 0017 on Sunday morning.

They do say that all good things come to an end, so it is with regret that we see the bus that brought us here is in fact the last one on Sunday, so we have to find overnight accommodation and we order an evening meal, then remind the staff that we require an early morning alarm call, as we will not be taking breakfast as we want to make an early start before the Monday morning rush-hour commences and we pay our bill there and then. The alarm call gives us time to make our way back to the bus stop in good time to board the 0638 Stagecoach in Swindon service 66 to Swindon bus station that arrives there at 0711 on Monday morning.

We make the short walk to the railway station and buy a quick bit to eat before boarding the 07:30 FGW service which we take to Bath Spa, arriving at 07:57 Monday morning.
