That looks to be the stop outside Booth's...?

We walk to the New Road stop (3 mins), where we await Stagecoach Cumbria service 567 at 1745. We alight at Kendal (South) (Westmorland General Hospital) at 1810 on Thursday.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, there are no more buses from that location for the rest of the day, nor from the stops within a 0.5m radius, and Oxenholme station is over 1 mile away so cannot be used either.

Which means an overnight will have to be taken here and we resume on Friday morning at 0726 when we board the first bus of the day, a Stagecoach 41 which we take to Kendal Bus Station arriving at 0746.

NB - If anyone can see an alternative way out on Thursday night, please post and I'll withdraw this post.

Sorry about the Westmorland General Hospital - it didn't cross my mind that there would be no buses at a hospital at 6pm on a weekday; unbelievable!

Can you remember to put the actual stop we alight, rather than jsut the location?

Anyway, we depart from Grasmere, Heaton Cooper Studio at 0945 on Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancs service 555, alighting at Keswick, Bus Station at 1014 on Friday.

A short wait - long enough to grab a coffee in fact - before boarding the 1030 Stagecoach Cumbria 554 heading to Carlisle arriving at Carlisle Bus Station at 1150 Friday morning.

NP on the hospital - the fact it's a General Hospital means it doesn't have an A&E department, so probably less demand to travel to it out of hours.

At 2020 we leave on Stagecoach West Scotland service 367. We alight at Portpatrick, Post Office at 2039 on Friday.

Now, if we say the 5 minute connection rule applies we are stuck here until the next day, however the bus we've just alighted from goes down the road, turns and comes back at 2040 getting back to Stranraer at 2102 - what should we do ?

If its the same bus forming the next working, then that's fine.

Thanks !

In which case, to avoid the overnight at Portpatrick, we'll return on the 2040 Stagecoach 367 to Stranraer Port Rodie arriving at 2102 Friday evening.

Nothing more around here tonight, so wondering whether the Police Station across the road might have somewhere we could spend the night, we return in the morning and take the fenced-in 7 minute walk (0.4 miles) to the railway station, where we board 1A11, Scotrail's 0700 service. We alight at Kilmarnock at 0852 on Saturday morning.

An 8 minute walk to Hillhead Subway station - as all I could find was a frequency of "up to 8 mins" on the web, we'll wait another 8 mins before boarding the subway for a journey to St Enoch's station which takes 14 minutes, meaning we arrive at 1756 Saturday evening.

The full timetable is on bustimes.org if you need it again in future, but let's run with the timings you state.

Let's walk to Glasgow Central station (6 min / 0.3 mile) where we board 1F77, Scotrail's 1818 service towards Ardrossan. We alight at Ardrossan South Beach at 1857 on Saturday.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Mindful of the very recent rules clarification, where a bus arriving at a terminus then forming the next journey not requiring the standard 5-minute minimum connection time, we next board the 2127 McGills service 545 to Gateside (the bus stop before Buchanan Street on Bow Road) that arrives there at 2149 on Saturday evening.

Conscious of the fact that services are starting to dwindle down the for the evening and knowing that it's Sunday the next day, and still unfortunately not being within walking distance of any stations, we take the six minute walk to Florence Street and there board the 2209 McGills service 517 to Greenock (Nicholson Street), arriving there at 2214 on Saturday evening.
