We cannot leave Dereham this late on a Friday, so we take advantage of the overnight rule and await an early bus that doesn't just take us limited-stop back to where we came from, as I don't fancy that! As this is Saturday, "early" isn't that early!
We therefore board Konectbus service 4 at 0655, heading towards Norwich. We take it as far as Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Forecort (Stand A) where we alight at 0742 on Saturday.

We don't want to take the same bus back and happily we find that Sprowston Park and Ride is just within our half mile walking range. We are in time to catch the 09:25 Konectbus service 502 to Norwich (Bus Station) where we arrive at 09:45 on Saturday morning.

We exit the station to find that we are just within the permitted 0.5 mile boundary for onward travel, so, by taking the eleven minute walk to the bus stop on Cucumber Lane, we board the 1814 First Norfolk & Suffolk Network Norwich Green Line service 15A to Wymondham (Cross), arriving there at 1925 on Saturday evening.

We are again just within the permitted 0.5 mile boundary for walking, this time 10 minutes to to Wymondham railway station. We board 1K93, Greater Anglia's 1939 service towards Stansted Airport, which we take as far as Ely where we arrive at 2026 on Saturday.

Since it's too late to walk to Hounslow East tube (last service just left), we take the TfL N9 Bus from stop F at 0057 to London Museum of Water And Steam, arriving stop Y 0107.
It's closed, but perhaps we can get a peek over the edge from the top deck, or look over a wall?

Feeling rather tired and wishing to avoid getting back on the next N207, we walk 200 yards to the station and kip down on a handy bench until it's time for the first train out, the 06:37 Metropolitan Line service to Aldgate, where we arrive at 07:31 on Sunday morning.

Having done a bit of shopping, we notice that the only departures on a Sunday travel back to Luton, so we take a five-minute walk to the Quadrant bus stops. There, we assess what services go where. It turns out that there is also one departure, which doesn't stop at the ASDA, that doesn't go to Luton. So, rather than be put up by moaning co-travellers about going back to Luton, we take the 11:30 Arriva Herts & Bucks service F70 towards Milton Keynes, but we disembark at Leighton Buzzard, West Street, arriving there at 11:55 on Sunday morning.

Unfortunately we no longer live in 1966, where we were able to hop on a train via the Great Central Main Line to travel up north (nowadays not much further north than Aylesbury Vale Parkway, and East-West Rail has not yet arrived!). We also missed the departure via Amersham after our two minute walk to the rail station, instead we board the 13:33 Chiltern Railways 2H33 service to London Marylebone (via High Wycombe), but we get off the train at Princes Risborough, arriving there at 13:50.
