As there is only a four minute minimum connection time applying at this station, we next board the 2153 Southeastern (has the new company taken on a new name yet since the government took their franchise off them recently) service to Herne Bay that arrives there at 2220 on Wednesday evening.

The takeover isn't until Sunday, from which it will then be SE Trains Limited.

Taking advantage of the overnight rule, we snooze on a station bench (if allowed!) and await 1P02, South Eastern's 0437 service towards London Victoria, from which we alight at Gillingham [Kent] at 0526 on Thursday.

We exit the station and walk around the corner to King Street, where we board the 0555 Arriva Kent & Surrey Sapphire service 101 to Maidstone (The Cannon), arriving there at 0629 on Thursday morning.

The majority of services here only seem to run between Snodland and Maidstone, so we wait for the 0950 Arriva Kent & Surrey service 72 to West Malling (High Street), arriving there at 1009 on Thursday morning.

We walk around the corner to the Sidmouth Road bus stop. Unfortunately, despite our best paces we were (just!) not able to catch the 11:41 departure, so we have to wait another 20 minutes in order to catch the 12:01 Metrobus (on behalf of TfL) service R3 to the Princess Royal University Hospital, arriving there at 12:35 on Thursday.

It's a little East of Locksbottom to be precise, but the location shouldn't have made a difference or hindered any planning moves.

We take the six minute walk up Southborough Road to the bus stop on Bickley Park Road, where we board the 1315 Arriva London service 269 to Bexleyheath (Trinity Place), arriving there at 1355 on Thursday afternoon.

Back in Kent then...

As we seem unable to escape Kent :) we head further East by departing the bus station on the 1625 service 326, operated by Chalkwell Garage and Coach Hire. We alight at Sittingbourne Bus Hub (Stop 2) at 1712 on Thursday.
