There's an 0300 bus from Bath to Bristol Airport (and intermediate points) which should take preference over waiting until 0657

Rightly so.

Let's take that 0300 Bath Bus Company service A4 to Bishopsworth (Library), arriving there at 0338 in the early hours of Monday morning.

There is a 0411 from Bishopsworth which gets to Cribbs for 0459, so can we use this instead?

With The Mall not opening until 0930, we can only go back on the buses. Luckily the 75/76 run 24/7, so let's board the 0505 First Bristol service 75 to Filton (Northville Road), which is actually the nearest bus stop to where I'll be living soon, arriving there at 0526 on Monday morning.

No problem - Traveline SW shows that as a Sunday evening service so I missed it

It looks as though it's a 9 minute walk to Filton Eden Grove from where we can catch the First in BB&SW 73 at 0558 to Bristol Parkway station, arriving at 0609 Monday morning

It's just within the 0.5 mile boundary however Gloucester Toad has plenty of other bus services, and so really that walk to Eden Grove wasn't really needed.

We then board the 0635 First Bristol service X18 to Emersons Green (Sainsburys), arriving there at 0659 on Monday morning.

We consider going off on a train somewhere, but a trip to some of Avon's more suburban towns sounds more appealing. We board the 1451 First in Bristol, Bath and the West service X5 to Portishead (Coombe Road), arriving there at 1529 on Monday afternoon.

We make our way to the White Lion for the First A2 bus at 1625 to Weston Super Mare station approach arriving at 1824 Monday evening

Seems a long time for a relatively short journey

It's because it goes via Bristol Airport.

We then enter the station and board the 1839 Great Western Railway (I still call them FGW!) service 2U28 to Stapleton Road, arriving there at 1925 on Monday evening.

Waking up after a brief sleep, we catch the first bus possible, the 06:25 service 32 operated by Plymouth Citybus, arriving at Cremyll, Edgcumbe Arms at 06:38.

In what I hope is a pleasing display of integrated transport, rather than a coincidence, this is in time to connect with the first ferry departure of the day from Cremyll. But will we be onboard?

A 2 minute walk around the corner allows us to sample one of the few trains stopping at St Budeaux Ferry Road railway station.

We catch the 0752 GWR train two stops to Devonport Dockyard, arriving 0757 Tuesday morning.
