We then board the 0813 Metrobus servce 400 to East Grinstead (War Memorial), arriving there at 0944 on Froday morning.

A lovely route and right past my house in Crawley, shame we couldn't use the 0653 or 0712 509 to get there.

However it does mean we can have a nice break before joining the 1035 Metrobus service 84 to Turners Hill, Tarana arriving at 1058 on Friday morning.

This stop is not on Traveline, it is a minute before the Withypitts Pond stop towards Crawley or a minute after towards Haywards Heath/East Grinstead.
Therefore we could use the 1103 service 82 to Haywards Heath, it leaves the Crown at 1101, and gets to Tarana 2 minutes later.

According to Bing it's 0.4 miles to Brighton station, so plenty of time to take the 2203 Southern service to Portsmouth Harbour, where we arrive at 2327 Friday evening

That's more than a 3 minute walk - it's something like a mile.

As the bus actually left Warsash Village at 0819 it doesn't make any difference to the outcome though

From Lee on Solent Esmonde Close we take the X5 at 1008 and travel to Fareham Station arriving at 1040 Saturday morning

Another thing to blame Traveline for, as this is what they said in their notes...<(

It may well do what you say, but posting # 6680 still gives a departure time of 0802 and posting # 6682 further confirms that time and this is what my posting was based upon.
