.... 1542 First Glasgow service 37 to Kittochside (MacIvor Crescent) that arrives there at 1600 .....
Can we assume there has been a typing error here, as this precise journey seems to be First Glasgow's service 31?

With no other alternatives from this location, we continue on towards the city on the 1630 First Glasgow service 31, alighting at Govanhill, Cathcart Road (opp. Boyd St) at 1657 Thursday afternoon.

Bodie, I've just realised your journey from Lockerbie to Glasgow on train 1S40 (post #6271) was actually invalid, as our previous point of disembarkation, Dryfesdale Cemetery, was actually a staggering 1.5 miles away from Lockerbie station! Ah well, five moves have occurred since, so there's nothing we can do now! Do check your distances for future reference

Anyway, from Govanhill, we then walk down Dixon Road and wait at the bus stop of the same name where we board the 1707 First Glasgow service 75 to Glasgow (New City Road/Garscube Road), arriving there at 1735 on Thursday afternoon.

We have been conveniently deposited near Cowcaddens Subway station. Entering the station, we take the 1749 SPT Subway Outer Circle the long way round to Partick Subway Station, arriving at 1804 Thursday evening.

We've arrived on the last service of the day, so we call it a night in Carrbridge.

We take the first service the following morning (local school buses excepted), 1S25 the 0756 Caledonian Sleeper to Inverness, arriving at 0838 Friday morning.

We take the 1535 D&E coaches return working on the 804 service and travel as far as Inchnadamph where we arrive at 1749 Friday afternoon

Traveline Scotland is refusing to show me ANY timetables at the moment so rather a laborious move

I could have placed money on Paul taking us on the 1944 service to some isolated settlement up north

Bus services in this area are ridiculous, and run very infrequently. We have no option but to call it a night before boarding the first available service out of the area on a weekend, which is the 1342 Highland Translink service 809 to Ullapool (Vyner Place), arriving there at 1418 on Saturday afternoon.

According to Traveline.info there's an 0805 Highland Translink bus from Inchnadamph to Ullapool on Saturday morning arriving at 0845 - both this and last Saturday

Not saying it's right info but it's there

And a decent hotel available for the night...

I did notice but it says it only operates on school days only. The other one doesn't (see here).

Not everything running north of Inverness leads to an outbreak of "Lybster Omnibus Syndrome".....:D

You have omitted the time of departure in this posting. Also are D & E Coaches the operator of the Saturday service?

Well, Sunday seems to be a public transport free day in the coastal reaches north of Ullapool and we have the whole day free in Achiltibue to leisurely explore the natural coastal attractions. We decide to set off early on Monday moring by boarding the 0742 Scotbus service 811 to Strathcanaird (Road End) that arrives there at 0842 on Monday morning.

Yeah, proper rural bus services!

The 167 appears to be the only show in town. This causes us a slight problem, because the service only runs once per day! So we take a well earned break from our relentless journeying, enjoy the local scenery, and check into The Albannach for a fantastic dinner, a few locally distilled whiskies, and cracking nights rest.

It's 07:55 the next morning when the rules state that we must catch the 167 Stagecoach Highland bus heading back towards Ullapool. As the bus loads up with rowdy school bairns, we decide not to stay with it all the way to Ullapool, instead alighting at Elphin Post Box at 08:20 on Tuesday morning.

(Elphin must be a really dull place if the only landmark is a post box!)

I completely agree! Having lived no more than two miles away from the city centre my entire life, I can honestly say I wouldn't survive more than an hour in these places! Paul, you have taken over my life!

Luckily, and for the first time in about a week, we are able to use a connecting service that comes in a relatively shorter period of time than the long five hour waits (or even overnight) waits we've had! We board the 0932 Highland Translink service 809 to Achmelvich (Youth Hostel/Minor Road), arriving there at 1021 on Monday morning, which I hope connects with some other services that takes us south and towards a far more urban area!

You won't get to any more urban areas by heading North and West of Ullapool! - you had no other options however. I was going to make that move but you beat me to it.

We have it seems no other available services till the...

1307 Scotbus' Westlink 809 to Ullapool, Ferry Terminal where we arrive at 1420 on TUESDAY afternoon
