The consultant at Leighton Hospital had assured us that was nothing better for the nervous system afflicted by Omnibus Timetable Amnesia Syndrome (a side effect of past afflictions with Lybster Omnibus Syndrome) than to take a long rail journey to a request stop station on a rail trip in the middle of winter, so after notifying the train staff of our intention to disembark at the requested station, we board the 0808 ATW service to Ferryside that arrives there at 1211 on Thursday afternoon.

Noting the 10 minute minimum connection time that applies at this large railway station and not wishing to become involved in yet another omnibus travelogue of the entire Bristol hinterland, we decide to take the sea air and board the 1147 FGW service to Paignton that arrives there at 1343 on Friday afternoon.

As the forum software lists posts chronologically with regard to the time postings are made, despite both of the above posts showing 05:00 GMT this morning, DanTrainMan185's posting was made before Paul's, even if it were momentarily, thus I request the game to continue from UWE Frenchay at 12:27 on a Friday afternoon. Paul's posting will now be struck through.

With kindest regards,

TP

It is too late really to see the premises of the former railway station that is now the headquarters of the Avon Valley Railway, so we decide to take another bus ride to another place with historical railway connections as a consolation and board the 1901 First in Bristol, Bath and The West service 319 to Mangotsfield (Christchurch School) that arrives there at 1930 on Friday evening.

Not too long to wait at the hospital before we board the 2041 First in Bristol, Bath and The West service 76 to Hengrove (Depot) that arrives there at 2135 on Friday evening.

General note....Just think that I set my alarm for 0500 yesterday morning in order to make a posting of escape from the Bristol area and found a nice train to take us all to Paignton, then someone also decided to make a posting at 0500 two milliseconds before me and consigned us to the section of Paradise Lost that sees us forever travelling around the Bristol area for the umpteenth time....<(<(<(

Oh Paul you're being very mean!

I have a few points to make on your post.

1) Did you seriously set an alarm for 0500 just to beat me to a post from Temple Meads, in an attempt to avoid Bristol?
2) We are in Manchester more than we are in Bristol
3) You have taken us to rural Lancashire more times than we've been to Bristol
4) The areas we have been to in this recent travelogue across Avon are places we have never been to, such as Bathford, Foxhill and Bitton.
5) On every move I have made, I have taken us to a destination where the next move could involve a transfer to a railway station for onward travel out of Avon. As you've not made any attempts to leave the area, I can only assume you love the south west! In Bitton, the 42 could have taken us to Lawrence Hill station or Bristol city centre, and in Southmead the 2 could have taken us to Temple Meads!
6) We have not been in Bristol, but have in fact been in Bath and South Gloucestershire!
7) We are now in Hengrove. Hengrove has appeared in our travels across Bristol before, not by me either!

Anyway, moving on....

Not too long to wait at the hospital before we board the 2041 First in Bristol, Bath and The West service 76 to Hengrove (Depot) that arrives there at 2135 on Friday evening.

As Paul is itching to get away from Bristol (or is he?), we next board the 2055 First in Bristol, Bath and The West service 51 to Temple Meads (Temple Gate), arriving there at 2121 on Friday evening.

Answers to two of the points raised....

Point 1)...I most certainly did set my alarm for 0500.

Point 3)...Rural Lancashire is a damn sight bigger that Greater Bristol.

We are mindful of the 10 minute connection that so applies at the large Bristol Temple Meads railway station, so we utilise this time period to enter the railway station and board the 2144 XC service to Plymouth that arrives there at 2339 on Friday evening.

Depends on the circumstances.

I am so tempted to take us back to Temple Meads on the 0525 to Glasgow the next morning, but I'm not that desperate

We instead take said service, 1S39, to Wakefield Westgate, arriving there at 1145 on Saturday morning.

Try going from Lancaster to Colne....what comparable distance is there in Greater Bristol?

Time to use a local rail service, so we board the 1204 Northern service to Goldthorpe that arrives at 1228 on Saturday afternoon.

I'm not understanding this comparison? Can you reiterate?

I was endeavouring to give a mileage comparison to your comment of comparison to the areas of rural Lancashire to that of the Bristol hinterland as both Lancaster and Colne are in the Lancashire region and if you did establish the mileage between these two settlements, you could use the same mileage to compare how this would compare between any two settlements in the Bristol hinterland.

It is now time to draw a veil for once and for all over this sorry matter, as it was through no fault of yours that my posting made at 0500 in real time to the railway station of Paignton was beaten for time and I am most certainly attaching no blame whatsoever to the forum quizmasters who made the decision to strike-through the said posting, as a well-worded posting explaining the reasons for their decision was made upon this particular thread.

Perhaps another sabbatical for me may well be in order....

We take the two minute walk to the tram section of the interchange and board the 1403 Sheffield Supertram service to Hyde Park tram stop that arrives there at 1416 on Saturday afternoon.
