I was wondering how this occurred, as whilst Halsall did indeed once have a railway station that was opened by the Liverpool, Southport and Preston Junction Railway, there have been no passenger services from there since it closed in 1952...when I was a 7-year old

In those days of yore, Deansgate station was then known as Knott Mill and Deansgate station..

As the Bury to Altrincham tram does not enter Piccadilly Gardens but leaves from the Market Street stop, we next take the 3 minute walk there and board the 2308 Manchester Metrolink service to Altrincham at the terminal tram stop part of the interchange that arrives there at 2336 on Tuesday evening.

Naught now to do but wait for the daytime public transport to commence, so walking the short distance down the hill from the railway station to the bus stop on Chester Road, we eventually board the 0520 Arriva North West service 263 to Manchester (Chinatown area of Portland Street) that arrives there at 0540 on Wednesday morning.
