A five-minute walk along the A6 gets us to the Boardwalk stop, in time to catch the 10.47 High Peak Buses Transpeak service as far as Furness Vale (Soldier Dick) arriving at 11.51 on Thursday Morning

We next board the 1212 High Peak service 199 to Peak Dale (School Road) that arrives there at 1241 on Thursday afternoon.

Unfortunately, we are just too late to get the 199 heading back towards Stockport, and noting that Great Rocks Club is not open at lunchtimes, decide to walk 6 minutes back down the road to the site of Peak Forest Station where we can watch all the freight train activities there for 40 minutes or so before any more buses are due.

We see the Buxton-bound High Peak 190 coming round the corner from the old Midland Hotel, at 13:20 bang on time. We leave the class 60s and 66s to their shunting and marshalling & take the 190 to Buxton, adj Sylvan Park (on Bridge Street) arriving at 13:30

We next board the 1401 G & J Holmes service 66 to Tideswell (Fountain Square) that arrives there at 1426 on Thursday afternoon.

Once again we have ended up in a settlement that has no service after 8pm. What is it with these towns?! Globalisation evidently hasn't hit these areas yet

Luckily, Paul has very conveniently taken us to the Royal Oak, and we are pleased to find there is a room for the night, so we call it a day and then the next day, after a hearty breakfast and a cuppa, we then make our way back to the bus stop where we board the 0749 Trent Barton 'Swift' service (another ridiculous name for a bus route!) to Uttoxeter (Railway Station), arriving there at 0817 on Friday morning.

If anyone manages to find a later service on Thursday evening, please automatically replace it with my posting above and continue from there; where I shall strike through my above posting later. I'm going to work now so I won't be on until later today. I look forward to seeing where we end up next!

The first service available at 2008 does not have the required 5 minute minimum connection time as stated in the rules, but there is the final service of the day from Hangingbridge, this being the 2208 Trent Barton "SWIFT" service.

I cannot however make a posting as yet as it was I who made the posting that took us onwards to Hangingbridge in the first place.

You are heading in the opposite direction, unfortunately. I was referring to the 2208 service to Derby

Being reasonable, I'll carry on from Uttoxeter station at 0817 Friday morning, rather than having fun over last bus / train times etc...

We board 1K04, which is East Midlands Trains' 0858 service to Derby, arriving there at or around 0928 this Friday morning.

Rules

You may not re-board the service just used in the previous post

You should use the first available service to reach your destination after allowing for the minimum interchange time.

You shouldn't wait for more than two hours after the first available service (to any destination) has left, after allowing for the minimum interchange time.

You may walk up to about half a mile when changing modes to a stop in the vicinity, if you wish.

The use of cars, taxis, planes or helicopters is not allowed.

I have emboldened both the second and the third of these rules as it appears that when we were in Hangingbridge, there was still a final bus service to Derby bus station that departed at 2208 (of which I made a helpful posting of notification), yet this appeared to be ignored and instead, there was an overnight wait until 0749 on the following morning when a bus service was taken to Uttoxeter (Railway Station). which was then followed on by a rail service to Derby.
