Here we manage to miss the next bus due to connection time so we wait here for the 11:44 John Leask & Son service 4 to Lerwick, at Viking Bus Station, arriving at 11:59 Monday midday.

Unfortunately there's still not a lot going on here so we stay the night before boarding the R Robertson and Son service 30 to Ulsta, at Ferry Terminal, arriving at 07:05 Tuesday morning.

We walk down to the Primary School where we board the 11:31 JA+GD Nicholson route 7F service to Exnaboe, Laurel Bank, arriving there at 11:37 on a Tuesday.

I have quite a lot of friends at university from Shetland, so it's quite fun to explore the islands (even if it's just in this game and not IRL). I can impress them that I know about Exnaboe.

That's good! You can impress them with your cunning(sburgh). ;)

I've altered my move's timings to follow on from yours.

We look at the rest of the village in the intervening hour before the 14:17 John Leask + Son route 6 takes us from the Industrial Estate to Grutness Junction, arriving there at 14:27 on a Tuesday.

Sadly, there is no sailing to Fair Isle until Thursday :( .

There's not a lot going on here, and this airport is rivalling Manchester for ugliness, so we are glad to board the 15:20 John Leask + Son service 6 to Lerwick, at Viking Bus Station, arriving at 16:00 Tuesday afternoon.

Technically, you don't quite know your Shetland as well as all that ;) that's 0.8 miles!

But we'll carry on (let's say you walked 0.6 miles to Voe Road End - still over the limit, but much more reasonable) as others have done.

Not much to see? There's Jarlshof and Old Scatness just down the road! :D

From Viking bus station, we walk to Harbour Street, before leaving lovely Lerwick on the 06:10 John Leask & Son route 4 bus service to the Shetland Hotel, arriving there at 16:19.

I must have seen the 0.8 and thought "8 minutes: perfect!". Sorry for the mistake people.

Sadly, my knowledge of Shetland is seriously lagging.

We walk to the Esplanade Ferry Terminal to board the 16:30 Shetland Ferries route SF4 service to Bressay Ferry Terminal, arriving there at 16:37 on a Tuesday.

After having a stroll around Bressay, we reboard the MV Leirna to travel on the 17:45 SIC Ferries crossing to Lerwick Ferry Terminal, arriving there at 17:52 on Tuesday afternoon.

Reminder: to get the ferry to Aberdeen, we have to be at the Shetland Hotel by 18:25 (the same applies if we end up staying here until Wednesday).

By my reckoning we can't make the ferry even if we want to as for some inexplicable reason all buses seem to shut down between about 5 and 7 in Lerwick. We therefore grab some tea before boarding the 19:10 John Leask & Son service 4 to Lerwick, opp Toll Clock Shopping Centre, arriving at whole 8 minutes later at 19:18 Tuesday evening.

Here we find somewhere to spend the night (hopefully not the Bakery!) before we’re woken up early by delivery lorries. We grab a baguette for breakfast before boarding the 07:00 Wastbus service 9 to Tresta, Sandsound Road, arriving at 07:20 Wednesday morning.

I mean don't get me wrong I'm quite enjoying watching where the game ends up on here, but I personally haven't got the patience

Now we head east, nourished by our baguette. We've been to new areas, but on our latest Shetland trip we haven't been to any new islands yet. Will we get to Whalsay, Out Skerries, Papa Stour or even Fair Isle or Foula? In any case, we board the 08:15 Wastbus route 9 bus service to Bridge of Fitch (Junction), arriving there at 08:36 on Wednesday morning.

At Vidlin Junction, we could have got the bus to Laxo and the ferry to Whalsay, but that ship has sailed, so we board the 12:13 John Leask & Son route 23 bus service to Brae (Leisure Centre), arriving there at 12:35 on Wednesday afternoon.
