Hmmm very stumped.

The only stations i know with alternative signage are Wallsend, Southall & London St Pancras, none of which satisfy the clues.

I'll amplify that to 'some' signage. But you are right - it's none of those three.

I forgot that but there are only 3 stations with bilingual signs as you mentioned earlier so personally these clues are not valid

Correct - the early line is the Stratford and Moreton Tramway that later became the Shipston on Stour branch

And the signage is in Japanese, directing tourists to the local bus stop in the station approach. (Not that obscure a fact - it's mentioned on the wiki page for the station so no local knowledge is needed.)

When they first went up the locals were a bit bemused - some thought they were in Chinese and couldn't work out why they were there.

I knew about the sign, and would have had that if I had actually been playing (instead of having my eyes glued to Germany vs Portugal). It certainly is sufficiently common knowledge for me to not need to invoke the Unreasonable Clues clause, especially considering it was a Clue 5.

I honestly didn't know it had Japanese signs, and I only knew of 3 stations (excluding Welsh stations) with bilingual signs. Looking at it now (with hindsight) the clues only lead to 1 station, which was given. If there is a penalty to be taken for what I suggested I am willing to take it

My guess to the current clue is Sellafield
