Tbf to the Mk4s a lot of the speed disparity is down to the 67s that TfW pairs with them in their current configuration. Was on a GWR 166 earlier and we raced HD03 out of Newport, it started moving a good 3 seconds before us and we were quickly able to catch up to it and matched it's speed up until the tunnel. Puts the MK4's acceleration speed into perspective in comparison to a DMU!
In many cases the Mk4s might do better without being attached to a 67. Well, they might if their doors would all operate properly.Tbf to the Mk4s a lot of the speed disparity is down to the 67s that TfW pairs with them in their current configuration.
But if you were able to run parallel all the way up to the 166s top speed of 90, the 67 would win.Was on a GWR 166 earlier and we raced HD03 out of Newport, it started moving a good 3 seconds before us and we were quickly able to catch up to it and matched it's speed up until the tunnel. @37052 xb mrI really do wonder why you & a few others are on here & not the 197 page !
This is a trip reports thread which also features diagram discussions, updates and etc.I really do wonder why you & a few others are on here & not the 197 page !
I totally agree. At the end of the day its a discussion about the MK4's and their reliability has been terrible lately so its no surprise that people are negative about them. This is a trip reports thread which also features diagram discussions, updates and etc.
I appreciate some just want to enjoy the vanity project of the 67s, but those of us who regularly make trips on the Marches and who are interested in the diagrams, and the impact of those diagrams on other diagrams on the Marches have every right to comment.
The fact is that when the Mk4s fail it is us users who get delayed and/or our 5 car 197 split to create cover for the Mk4s. It might not be a reality some like, but it is the reality.
1W13 aswell?
1W12 is 2-car again because it's other half has been stolen. So today the rubbish nature of the Mk4s is personally impacting my trip. I hope this reality is not disturbing to those who come on here expecting praise for the Mk4s.
Feel free if you want to be childish.Specifically planned for you to enjoy.
Maybe I should start posting all the 197 issues & failures.
And people are wondering why
The gen on here has dried up !
Er no. The Mods created this thread to do exactly that:Gen is appreciated but this is more than a gen thread. Perhaps start one for diagram updates only?
It appears to be the whinges about mk4s that need a different thread.Moderator note: as the trains are now in service, there is no need for a rolling stock introduction thread; there is, however, a new thread for anyone who is planning a journey, currently travelling, or has travelled and posting their experiences, and equiries/updates relating to allocations etc :
