TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

I had this information given to me by a Gbrf driver friend.....

No chance of that I'm afraid, 1 is planned to come in to service in just over 12 months and even that is just to cover the existing sets while they go for overhauls to start off with.

In the long run never say never. It was being looked at as a way of keeping up with and adding capacity/resilience but it's certainly not a given.

Terrible Unit availability across all mainline 158/197/Mk4 fleets today so nothing available to cover W65.

1W63 terminated at Crewe, 67014 + HD07 now working 1V62 back to Cardiff to step in for the Canton diagram tomorrow. Will HD03 be ready in time following todays events? Unsure how long a deep clean would take depending on what happened.

At least everything is in place for tomorrow. Not entirely sure why it was sent out on the "opposite" diagram this morning but there must have been a reason.
It's hoped to get it out with it getting to the depot early its got the best chance of making it out.

There's 6 197s and 6 158s also out of action above the planned amounts this weekend so will certainly be a priority to get it going as cover would be thin on the ground.

Unit availability does seem better than expected today to be fair to the 197s!

HD03 has been deemed needing a heavier clean than Crewe can do so is off empty to Canton tomorrow for a full bio clean.

It does leave things incredibly short for tomorrow with only 1 full diagram and 1 part diagram covered, both the Crewe starts are units and the Holyhead start diagram will finish in Cardiff when it arrives at 17:50.

HD01 is now on minor exam, HD02 stored and HD05 on post tyre turn repairs but 67025+HD06 are planned out on test tomorrow following exam and it's failure pre-exam which should increase availability from Tuesday.
67017 is also back available and should head over to ATC later, loco availability isn't too bad but the rakes themselves are having a dreadful time.

67012 + HD06 is showing to work 1V31/1W55/1V42/1W23 tomorrow too after a loco swap from 67025 I believe, worked a test run today under headcode 5Z25 I'm pretty sure.

Overall, good to have 4 back out.

Edit: seems to have swapped back around, 67012 is with HD03 and 67017 with HD06 on the same diagrams

I was due to catch the 1630 from Manchester on Friday but with it initially showing as a 2 car 197, I bailed, only for it then to be set swapped at Crewe on the way up. I'd already altered my plans so couldn't go with my original, but is there scheduled to be a chef on board this train usually?

Yes that one does and it’s a pretty reliable one for hot food on board too. The chef availability is getting a lot better recently too with more recruited at the north end of the route now.

67012 declared a failure and was on HD03 now coupled up with 67025 (just the two 67s together)

67015 now connected to HD03

67008 connected to HD05 which has done a test run from the depot to Shrewsbury and back again on 5Z67.

Assuming the whole failure was on 012 and not the set itself, assuming it'll be okay now and serviceable with 015 on it.

HD05 I'm supposing is now ready too, which is good news. That leaves 01 and 02 out of service (if HD03 is too then that's all the LNER ones out!) Unless 01 is nearly ready

I did 67014 on the 1230 from Manchester Piccadilly yesterday, it was shown as a loco hauled set on RealtimeTrains, but the loco number wasn’t specified for some reason. Lovely trip in the ex-GC coaches.

At Cardiff the 197 I was meant to catch to Fishguard Harbour never materialised, with a 150 eventually turning up to take us to Carmarthen for buses onwards.
