For those who like thrash, 5715 is thoroughly recommended. A good replacement for 5867 and 5912, that for me had similar qualities.
If you like yer thrash, I guess it's, " get the 455s in while you can".Once gone, listening to SR thrash as you travel is gone, as indeed does the practice of breathing fresh air while travelling through having windows that open.
As always some, like me, will regret this loss, while others will embrace the new. There is a beauty in difference

There are a few good ones: 5709, 5711, 5715, 5737. Some are even louder when they decelerate, and they make all sort of strange noises as they struggle to grip in the recent showery weather. I was particularly pleased that 5709 turned out for the 1702 non stop to Surbiton. Just 29 in service today, and none appeared to be standing in for other traction.

For those who like thrash, Chiltern 68s are about the only option in the UK on service trains. An EMU may be many things, but it is not "thrash"!

If so, that would leave 5920 as the only remaining 455/9. 5920 is on a diagram that ends at Wimbledon Park tonight off of 2F71 2250 Waterloo - Woking which may or may not be a coincidence.

For that reason it's probably the one I've asked about most on this thread as it'll be a sad day when that one goes.

5715 should have a long while left. 5911 has been retired. It's just 5920 left of the 455/9 subclass. And even that one is on borrowed time.

Indeed. I've had a couple of trips in the 508 trailer with the windows open. It absolutely howls when it slows down.

Not that I know of.
They cut the juice off in the yard yesterday as they were loading a new shunter's cabin in the yard.
All trains in the yard were wearing portable tail lamps.
