That is bizarre. 5913 was out of service for extensive for repairs for something like seven months. Then it goes for scrap after less than one month back in service! On a personal note, I had it to Surbiton on August 29th (previous ride was back in 2002) for 5914 back so that couldn't have worked out better.

EMUs are not always easy to preserve at heritage railways as not easy to run.For anyone that is interested. Here is the thread regarding the Motor Coach 67300 from the 457/210 which was recently repainted.

Tyneside EPB is in store pending start of restoration work at Shackerstone (Battlefield Railway) benefited from a jet wash back in November 2022. The unit lives in a siding in a tree lined cutting and this means it attracts green algae as it is not moved for long periods of time. More recently...www.railforums.co.uk
Still reminds of the day i got the picture of the both 5912 and 5913 together. (taken 14/12/2024).
67301 was owned by the SERA, there was a plan to use it to reform a 210 at the time, but as discussed on the below thread, the motor coaches could not be extracted from where it was located. It was eventually sold back to a leasing company in the mid 2000s and then reworked to a replacement 455 motor coach (for 455913)

33056 for these things must be absurdly rare unless there's one lying around in a box in Derby somewhere. One of the videos ( the one with the powercar at the back ) appears to show it notching up after it's got moving a bit, but there's a footbridge in the way to muddle matters. Searching...
Hence why the MHR are interested in the MK3 150 DMU (which has a similar boy to a MK3 455).
Presume EKR will try and get 60400 from 455912 and 60301 from 455913 for a 457 unit?
So far 455868 looks like it is still at Derby, and will be the only 455 to survive, in the 701 thread it was said it might go to Basingstoke for training use, but not confirmed.

5750 was in service yesterday and according to RTT is again today, I think I also saw 5707 in use yesterday morning but doesn't appear to be out today.

Not wanting to drift off topic but the posts above about vehicles possibly being saved have made me just briefly ponder, nothing more..
Is it anything other than remaining miles and / or coincidence that the last built unit, 455920, seems to be quietly hanging in there....

I don't think any vehicles will be saved and no concrete news yet on 5868.

No worries, my confusion. Just to be sure. Has 5913 definitely gone now ?
I had a nose through realtime trains. It appears that both units were taken out of service mid afternoon on Tuesday. Last runs below.

455910 is also off lease, as is 455724.

Correct. both were taken out of service on Tuesday.
Probably just a coincidence as it is all down to miles.

It did 2S47 yesterday, which is on the single unit, evening only diagram.
I've noticed quite a few 455s recently seem to have worked this diagram as their last before withdrawal so it's entirely possible that that is indeed it for 5911...

If so, that would leave 5920 as the only remaining 455/9. 5920 is on a diagram that ends at Wimbledon Park tonight off of 2F71 2250 Waterloo - Woking which may or may not be a coincidence.

Even if somebody was willing to bankroll a 210/457 recreation, the best opportunity would have been a Class 317 unit. That ship has long sailed.
