According to the most recent passenger flow stats, the most popular destination from Stranraer, not served by through trains, is Paisley Gilmour Street.

Audley End railway station is actually in the village of Wendens Ambo. Similarly, Wickham Market station is not located in the town that bares its name, but in the village of Wendens Ambo, a couple of miles distant.

The National Rail Journey Planner page on Lympstone Commando explicitly lists it as a Private Station, with the message "The public must use the next station, Lympstone Village to access the village centre."

By following along the long closed Chester & Birkenhead Railway disused Birkenhead Dock Branch through the Haymarket Tunnel, it was possible to reach West Kirby from Green Lane.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England

I think the line referred to was that of the Birkenhead Joint Railway which was a joint venture between the Great Western Railway and the London and North Western Railway and the line section that ran from Hooton to the closed station of West Kirby ran paralell to the Wirral peninsula coastline that faced Wales.

For some strange reason, OpenRailwayMap lists part of the line I was thinking of as being part of the Chester and Birkenhead

Then, without any indication, it then turns into the Birkenhead Docks Branch.

In any case, I've somewhat amended my original entry, but there is a connection there through to West Kirby!

Most recent passenger flow statistics show that the most popular destination from Bagshot, not served by direct through services, was Bracknell
