Do they ever. They withdrew them as part of a massive overhaul in 2006 and the result was calamitous at best. It didn't take long for Platform 2 to see regular use again - five weeks I think. If I recall correctly, there are eight each way per day. There are even some eight coach trains terminating there; and I believe at least one does not serve Limehouse.

I've never actually used a Laindon terminator though! And with one exception over the airshow weekend this year, I've never used Platform 2 there either (you presumably would have on the Blue Train thing on March 5th, which I lost my pictures of when my old camera died :( I deliberately went to Shoeburyness station for a few pictures that day...).

Like Glasgow Central, Cannon Street is a terminus station located at the end of a bridge.

Sittingbourne also has fast tracks running through it (or at least it did when I was there - a long time ago ).

Taking what Ivo says above as "gospel"....

West Horndon and Laindon stations are on a loop line and once were served by services of the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway and are currently managed by c2c.

The loop runs via Grays ;) How about "West Horndon is also between Upminster and Basildon"? When did I say they were on a loop?

N.B.: Sorry about being so pedantic the last couple of days Paul, especially considering that PM you sent me ;)

D'oh. Signs of a hard day. Am taking a break at present

Hastings is also served by SouthEastern and Southern.

Flitwick is also served by a First Group company and passed through at speed by a Stagecoach Group company.

Leighton Buzzard is another Bedfordshire-based four platform station which serves over one million passengers annually.

Yes, but also some time before that when there were some engineering works on and the line was closed either east or west of there, thus it was being used. At one point last year, I think I spent about 4 of 7 weekends on the LTS crossover bashing.

Does it?

Bedford St Johns is at the other extremity of London Midland's network - Euston is furthest south, Bedford St Johns is furthest east.

It isn't - London Euston is further east by some distance.

Baildon is another urban-area station without a direct service to the largest station of that urban area (Milton Keynes and Leeds, respectively).

*shakes head*

Bedford St Johns is due north of Heathrow. Euston is LM's easternmost station. (Even St Albans Abbey is further east of Bedford St Johns.)

Indeed, my mistake. In forget that the WCML leaves London heading North West.

Removed, back to Euston I guess

Another crack at the "other extremity" idea - Euston is furthest south and east on LM's network; Liverpool Lime Street is furthest north and west. Both are also managed by Network Rail.

That is what I was going to post before Bedford St Johns, but I decided to be a bit clever and failed...

Exeter St David's also sees many terminating DMUs.

@ Matt - I give in with that Sittingbourne thing. I just remember seeing some trains not stopping there, and I'm sure they were on fast lines. I was little though.
