Uxbridge is a branch line, like mr menheniot.

Is that correct?

Chesham is a terminal branch line station on the Metropolitan line whilst Uxbridge is a terminal London Underground station of both the Piccadilly Line and the Metropolitan Line.

(As a note of interest, in June of this year, the London Borough of Hillingdon announced that they were to lobby TfL to have the Central Line extended to Uxbridge from West Ruislip).

Not really, Uxbridge is at the end of a branch line, Menheniot is the next station down from the start of one ;)

Can we have LUL entries?

Can we have LUL entries?

This was raised some time ago and a suggestion was made that the person who first set this quiz up should be asked for clarification as exactly which type of stations could be used. This suggestion was dismissed out of hand by a forum member who said that the person who set this quiz up was far too busy to deal with such a request. Hence, people on this quiz have had no definate guidelines in which to base their replies, since that date.

The only advice that I can offer, finding ourselves in such a situation, is to follow the guidelines of HST Power on the Station Codes quiz in his very recent rules clarification on the thread posting # 886 of 26th September 2011 in which, as a result of some rather "unusual" posting entries, was in need of rules clarification.

His idea is that the following rules should apply:-

UK mainline heavy rail stations that are currently open.

London Underground stations that are currently open.

No light rail stations of any type are to be allowed.

Therefore, we are now in the position of having Chesham as the next station with which to make a station association, unless a rules clarification specific to this quiz is received.

That was me. I didn't dismiss it out of hand, I suggested that we shouldn't bother him as he probably has more important things to deal with on here. Feel free to PM for clarification if you want to though...

Uxbridge, menheniot = branch line whether it's the start or end of one it doesn't really matter at all. It's still a branch line so it has a form of connection.

Quite how Menheniot is a branchline... anyway:

Hayes & Halington - also close to Greater London's western border

Shall we continue from Chesham then?

Stourbridge Town and Chesham are both at the end of a branch line that has no intermediate stations between them and their respective junction station.

EDIT: Great, I've been beaten to it, again.

After such an invitation, I am most probably unworthy of making such an approach in some members eyes, but you can do so if you wish with your greater knowledge of forum protocol. It was you who asked the question if London Underground stations were acceptable today.

Heysham Port is a single platform terminal station on a branch line, as is Stourbridge Town.

Eh? We're going Menhniot—Uxbridge—Hayes & Harlington—London Bridge...

Hayes and Harlington was put forward as a clue when Chesham was still the next clue, as stated by Class172 who put Stourbridge Town as the next clue, which was then connected to Heysham Port.It was not the fault of anyone that a station was inadvertently associated to Hayes and Harlington,

Heysham Port is the clue with which to make a connection.

Menheniot is not on a branch line. The branch line from Liskeard/Coombe goes to Looe.

The link was that the following station to the West was a junction station.

Hayle -> St Erth
Menhenoit -> Liskeard

The link was from Menheniot to Uxbridge based on the fact that Uxbridge is on a branch.
