1 and 3 Eastbound show 4/9 car stop at the end of each platform. Do you know what other stop signs are on Platforms 1 and 3 going westbound.
I'll check tomorrow... I know there's a stop sign on Platform 1 level with the end of Platform 2, as that's where the westbound TPXs stop now, but I can't remember what it says. It's just visible
here but obscured by the 'OFF' indicator.
I like you am puzzled by the stop signs on Platform 4 in the Westbound direction which you commented upon previously.
As you say, P4 is probably useful for Victoria reversals in case P5 is out of use, but I also remember there being a VT 4/5 board down the end of the old Platform 1 which I was told was for stuff coming up from Guide Bridge but then reversing to Newton Heath,
but that board faced west.
You can just about see it on the left-most lamp post in
this picture.
As far as I know, apart from the new trailing crossover at the east end of the station, the next one (also trailing) is where the Victoria units used to reverse at Diggle Junction when the old bay Platform 3 was taken out prior to the work.
Incidentally, I did notice a few people who - err - "forgot" to get off at Stalybridge once,
so presumably stayed on to scratch the Diggle crossover so presumably had to endure a totally pointless ride up to Diggle and back
(Unsubstantiated accusations removed *innocent face*)

I just remembered the old "Shunt Limit" sign (signal?) in the old Platform 2 visible
here so presumably stuff could reverse in the old Platform 2 as well.

OK so a swift survey today reveals:
- a plethora of stop boards on Platform 4 westbound
- a mystery covered up stop-board-to-be on Platform 3 westbound
- an unexpected eastbound stop board on Platform 1
thusly:
Small Print: Not to scale, E&OE, any likeness to any station living or dead is purely coincidental, yes I know the platforms are more curved than that but I'm rubbish at drawing curves
