Saw 47722 in Carlisle earlier at the Courts on English Street. This would have been about 5 past 11 when it pulled up to the stop and opened its doors. I didn't have time to check but I assume it was in passenger service although there was nothing displaying on the front - new for Carlisle or just a temporary thing?

it is Carlisle's, but works out of Penrith Outstation. 42672 will have been on Buttermere Circular's instead of 47722, which i'd have assumed will have been up for maintenance.

Not Stagecoach related, but a significant development, with the arrival of the new Volvo B7RLE single deckers to Blackpool Transport, is that these will probably lead to the withdrawal of the last remaining ex Fylde Blue Buses vehicles. These were, of course, Optare Deltas with retained their K---FBT registrations.

I started my Bus career with Fylde Blue Buses, and the Deltas were registered H1-3 FBT. H2 FBT was my regular bus on the evening Blackpool - Preston service.

Interesting, my money would have been on them ending up at Frenchwood, seeing the 8 is transferring there. There maybe others transferring as and when the company is sold. Will be interesting to see where these end up.

It is only the 11 that will transfer to Frenchwood. The 8 is remaining with Preston Bus. 4 vehicles (not all Solo's) will transfer with the 11 at a date still to be decided.

As they were told to sell it - How is it that Stagecoach can play about with Preston bus 'stock'. Seems rather like in the process of selling my house selling all the fixtures and fittings to someone else in the meantime. Shouldn't there have been a freeze on any movement/sale of as soon as the decision was made?

Stagecoach have no say in what Preston Bus do anymore, it is all handled by the Hold Separate Manager appointed by the Competition Commission and the Preston Bus management, hence from October 3rd Preston Bus will be operating the Sun - Thu evening 68 journeys Preston - Blackpool. They have won the tender from LCC despite Frenchwood tendering as well. The Fri and Sat journeys will still be operated commercially by Frenchwood.

Preston Bus are deciding for themselves what vehicles they require in their fleet and Stagecoach has had to negotiate with them about which vehicles would transfer with the 11. I presume Stagecoach are being offered the vehicles for disposal first, hence them retaining the Solos but not Lynxes or Olympians.

It would seem that the competition commission could be abolished under new government plans. A list leaked to the BBC today shows that the future of the CCC is still to be decided but could either be abolished or merged with another quango.

After the mess they may with PB I wouldn't mind seeing it reformed.

I can see (amongst other things) the supermarkets loving that! "Tesco City" here we come!:o

My feeling is that they will keep the commission and either merge it with another department to save money or totally change the way they operate to save money and make them more officiant. The department does have a purpose, but I think they are sloppy and careless and need an huge reform and maybe sizing down.

16447 has disappeared off LL's allocation list on the fleetcard, and 16647 has been put down as tacho'd. me thinks there is a bit of a mistake there!!! 16647 isn't tacho'd, but 16447 is! 16447 not shown on the transfer list, or on any reserve lists, or any other depot's allocations!

Can't imagine what next months list will look like!!!

Barrow are doing very well, soon be left with no Leylands, one B10 and only one 709d! Very impressive. Hopefully those 2 B10s now in reserve at BA will end up at KL to see of some M reg's.

16874 is still just listed as reserve so still just sitting there, god knows what's going on with that.

16647 as rightfully stated isn't tacho'd, so yes I assume mix up! And sorry about the mix up regarding the 8s and the 11s, will be interesting to see.
Apprently the 2 former Barrow Olympians touched down at Frenchwood this morning too.

14193 is on the back fence at morecambe and i wonder if they are going to send 20780 down here for storage.

Didn't last long at CE lol. I imagine 20780 will come to ME, a lot of BA stuff has, would be good for last pics of the old thing!!

Is 20451 going to CE for service then? Seems like an odd thing to do when B10s will become free in October...

21007 looks good with its new LED! 21005 looks odd now lol :)

20451 should have been picked up by now or unless 22816 is due back from repaint, the only movements today are 14243 and 14246 that went to preston today.

quick update on the Fleet Averages, from the latest card.

Carlisle: average age 2002 accessibility 60%
Lillyhall: average age 2002 accessibility 54%
Kendal: average age 1998 accessibility 49%
Barrow: average age 2001 accessibility 71% (figures after Ryder Cup should be 2002 with 79% accessibility)
Morecambe: average age 2002 accessibility 72%
Chorley: average age 2005 accessibility 74%
Preston: average age 2004 accessibility 86%

also worth pointing out Barrow's Minibus PVR is 21, yet there is 24 Solo's and 3 709D's there, meaning 6 spares (will be 4 after Ryder Cup).
Lillyhall's minibus PVR is to be 12 from 4th October (change already shown) yet there is 11 Solo's, 1 Vario, and 1 mini Dart, meaning only 1 spare.

Quite possible Pickles, lack of LED destination screens could also be the reason (both 20780 and 20477, the 2 remaining B10Ms are LED fitted)

I must admit I'm surprised at how newish the NW fleet looks now, except for Kendal of course. The (hopeful) withdrawal of M reg B10Ms will go some way to helping rectify this, with the Leyland withdrawal making a big difference.

Not particularly bad damage, but I can't see there being much reason to repair it with all these spare B10Ms now available.

Now I could be doing 2+2=5 here, but there's a short piece in this week's Westmorland Gazette, saying that police are looking for the driver of a white transit van who drove off after hitting a Stagecoach bus in Barrow.

Presumably that's how 20478 came to be damaged.

I see your point but as Its an R reg it will still have a half decent resale value so i dont think it'll be scrapped

Especially when they did a transplant job on an R reg one not so long back at Carlisle... depends what state the vehicle is in as a whole, but B10M's are pretty robust and there are still plenty of spare donors in store in the north west and dotted around the country.
