Hello.

I've got three questions. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

1. Is there anybody else who has a status of 'invite to assesment centre (via assessment centre)' but hasn't actually got an invite yet and you got anything out of Southern about when the invite might come?

2. If you are as above did you put Selhurst as your preferred depot?

3. How does an application rating of 80 stand in the scheme of things?

Thanks

1. Mine is showing the same and I emailed the resourcing team who said that I will probably get an invite in the new year.

2. I've applied for selhurst

3. I also got the rating of 80 and I've got no idea what it means but the "change reason" next to it says "good application"

Hope that helps a little

I received my invite prior to the changeover, having put all four depots down. I'd rather not disclose my rating, but it's higher than 80.

So maybe they're going in rating order, seeing how many pass the assessments in January and then inviting more if needed.

But really all we can do here is speculate; you would have to ask Southern for specific information. Tell them you're concerned that the system says you were invited but you're not sure if the email was lost in your spam filter (or something) so you'd like them to verify whether it was sent and resend if possible.

Thanks. Probably did myself down. I didn't realise you could pick all four depots and have for some reason got a cross for just choosing Selhurst even though I only live 20 mins away. I didn't get a cross against the later question about distance at time of application though so assumed that Selhurst wasn't top priority.

If you can change from selhurst id seriously advise it. Probably the worst depot at southern for work content

That's probably why they regularly hire there- drivers leave for other depots/TOCs as they gain seniority.

And yet if you ask people who actually work there I would say more than 95% actually enjoy it. It has a lot of metro work of course but it's actually a really good place to work. If you put Selhurst down as an option don't worry about it. It's not as bad as people (usually from the outside!) say.

Yes. Looks like the there's a problem with the accounts database. Initially it looks like you've got your password wrong but I have tried to request a password reset and it doesn't recognise my email address.

Sit tight for a while it should be something that they can restore.

Has anyone got the HR telephone number that was on the on the website or a generic email address for the same department?

No, but I did get two positive responses today:

1. A very helpful man answered the phone today. He found my application on their system, told me it was still being considered and I would be contacted in due course. He also said that there are a few teething problems with new system and one of the problems is that some applicants log-ins have been deleted. In my case it is only the ability to access the system that has been deleted and not my application. The man took my details, said he'd pass everything on to the IT department and would get back to me in the next couple of days.

2. About an hour after the phone call I received a reply to an e-mail that I sent last week.
extract from reply
"We’re currently working on this problem and you’ll be receiving an email in the near future which will help you. You are still being considered for the role that you applied for and will be receiving instructions regarding the next stage of the process."

So I'm just sitting back now and waiting for my application to be advanced, instead of wondering whether my application actually still exists!

Good luck to all those attending this week.

The January course starts pretty much straight after the rules course I'm currently on finishes. The trainer I have is booked to do that course & for those who are going to be on it all I'll say is you'll be worked hard but you will have a very good trainer.

Re account log in/loss problems.

Got an e-mail today telling me to re register (again). The e-mail also contained a link with some instructions.
Registered then went back to the e-mail, hit the link, put in a few details and my application now appears in my newly re registered log in.

Still waiting for an invite though, how did everyone get on with their assessments this week?

I did well so far. There wasn't enough time to do the MMI, so we'll have to go back to do them at a future time. So I suppose nobody really knows if they actually passed or not because they haven't yet done the interview.

Does anybody know the perceived start date for the March Train Drive training course with Southern?

Can anyone categorically confirm that 30 mins is the max commuting time Southern will allow for potential trainee driver candidates ?

I know this has been asked before but the answers seem to vary.

Any help appreciated

Mine's on there but not completely. I've posted already the full details of how I got to this point. but after phone calls and emails from me to Resourcing I was sent an email with a link and some instructions which I had to act upon by today.
I clicked on the link and it gave me an abridged application. Just name and address, education history, criminal record, data protection stuff and a declaration. Currently that is the only info showing on the system for my application.
I'm assuming that as I had a deadline of today that there will be something done by the IT dept this weekend that will make my full application appear.
I'll let you know on Monday.
I was told that my application is still under consideration and will be restored as it was i.e. Invite to assessment centre via assessment centre.
Hope this helps.

Hello

I am applying for the trainee drivers job at Brighton. Does anybody know what routes the Brighton depot sign? Anybody already working for Southern know how many vacancies there are?

I currently work for fgw as a conductor and did an assessment centre last year for the conductor role which included the group bourdon test, I wonder if I get through to the assessment centre they can carry the results over as it was only a year ago?

I have a friend working as a driver at Brighton, he said he does Brighton to London Vic and London Bridge East as far as Hastings and West as far as Barnham inc Littlehampton

I applied for this on the first day it was published, but I also applied for another position as well back in December incase I was not successful with FCC

I telephoned the recruitment at Southern today as the closing date for my other application was in December, and the guy I spoke to told me they are working through the backlog, but to give some indication of the work load, they have already received over 800 applications for the Trainee Driver at Brighton!!!

800 ... and its got a little while yet before the application date closes

Yes there is also a limit to the travelling time to the depot my mate said although he wasnt 100% sure what that was but thought it was 30 mins cannot verify that though

Brighton's starter route I believe is to Seaford.

I certainly wouldn't expect a trainee to be going up to London or out to Hastings any time soon. :)
