Goodness the 376s are horrible in this hot weather. No air con was such a mistake. They've been horrible to use with warm temperatures for months and we still have months to go of potential heat.

At least the networkers get a decent breeze going (mostly) and have the vents. The 376s have no respite wherever you sit. With 20 years of life left it's a shocker they aren't getting air con.

SE seems to think LED lights and USB ports will save the 376. Seriously, knowing how the 465s are I think those USB ports will all be broken in a month.

It’s a good job that passenger USB ports are just faceplates, then. Easily replaceable.

Close enough! Where did you see this 5-car (not full) 376? From my experience on metro lines, all the carriages get filled out pretty evenly on a 10-car train when doing up towards London, even during the off-peak.

There are 3 booked diagrams formed of 5/376 from the May timetable. Diagrams SG808, SG823, SG826

They tend to only get moved on Thursdays at the moment. There isn't a diagram for Thursday this week yet, however the loco move from Derby is in this Wednesday so the expectation is there will be a drag (last week's diagram was cancelled, though I doubt they'd cancel two in a row unless it's a serious fault with whatever's set to be scrapped).

10 of the 36 are now blue, one being done each week.

The loco move was cancelled today and no diagram has appeared in RTT for a drag tomorrow, so looks like this week will be drag-free too.

The May 2025 carriage workings show all six morning peak workings into Blackfriars as single 376s. The two evening peak workings are a single 465. There are several single 376s from Cannon Street in the evening peak. 16:54 Dartford, 17:02 rounder via Plumstead and Sidcup, 17:24 Dartford, 18:54 Dartford. In the morning, the 06:35 from Slade Green, 06:27 from New Cross via Plumstead, 08:09 from Dartford, 08:39 from Dartford and 08:00 from Cannon Street rounder via Plumstead and Sidcup are all single 376s.

Only two allocations are needed to form all the Beckenham Jct-Blackfriars, given one circuit takes an hour. Before May though there was only one 376 diagram on this route, however it's possible more Networkers' were re-allocated to strengthen other diagrams, especially now a few more 12-car diagrams exist, and there are zero 376s on the Sevenoaks' stoppers (usually 3x 12-car, 1x 10-car Networker, 1x 10-car 707).

As has been the case with SE for years, the long term uncertainty means lots of short term thinking.

The Networkers will get replaced, and some new trains will have to be purchased. But will the 376s and 707s be replaced also? I'm guessing the 707s will stay, seeing that toilets are going to be fitted, but have no idea what will happen with the 376s. IF they are definitely staying for another 15-20 years, then fitting aircon might be worthwhile, if they are to be replaced in the next 5 then you can see why they wouldn't bother.

Funny how I've always talked about 5-car 376s on this thread, now I'm on one! First time I've seen a 5-car 376 in person and also one going to Hayes.

Also it's in the new livery, which I am finally starting to see more of again.

Does anyone know the status of 465237? ROMIC took ownership of this unit last year and offered it up for sale for a non-rail use a while back. On the Fleet Details Wikipedia page, the separate row for this has disappeared and now thinks it has been scrapped, but if so, it was done very quietly as I can't find any record of its scrapping. The Wiki table though does have form for not being well updated so I wouldn't be surprised if this is incorrect.

The whole "refurbishment" of class 376 is a joke. It is more of a deep clean than refurbishment. There will be very little improvement for passengers. They will still lack A/C, the seats still will be uncomfortable etc. Enthusiasts will notice new livery but most passengers won't notice a thing. After a month of so in service internally they will be as dirty as they are currently.

If SE had their way then all the trains would be in that blue livery, 465s included. You are completely correct in all your points though, what good is this refresh if SE staff never clean the trains anyway?

It's a sad sight to see that the Metro-Cammell Networkers are being slowly scrapped, but what about the stored units? Why does Angel still have 465/2s stored if they are never to come back in service?

Also with the /9s and 466s, why are they stored? Does it mean they are being repaired or are they just being cannibalised for spare parts? Would like to know.
