I probably know the answer but is there any recent information regarding the new rolling stock? It all got awfully quiet regarding the tendering.

Also, how about fitting the loos into class 707. When are they going to start?
Steve White said when the 376 vinyl work started that the toilet fitting will take a while, and I expect they won't start until all the 376s are fully refurbished.
Majority are part recovery now since parts are running extremely low currently. There's probably 1 or 2 that may return but don't hold your breath on that
Unless they can get some parts manufactured in future I can see SE having fleet shortages at this rate. Given the new order hasn't been publicly announced yet, everything will have to soldier on for what could easily be the rest of the decade. The MetCams might be obviously seeing part donor units, but the BREL fleet has seen some long-term absentees too, suggesting they are either part donors as well, or unable to obtain parts to stay in service.

On 06 Aug there is 5Z34 1211 Derby Litchurch Lane to Strawberry Hill C.S.D. - I wonder if this is the NSE 465 returning to base?
465908 would be returning to Slade Green or Gillingham. I haven't seen any diagram for this yet, but given the extensive number of units at the Greatest Gathering, it's going to take a while getting all the "guests" out the "car park."

Looks like a brief break in the 455 clear out for the removal of some more 465/466s:
According to the grapevine this will be 466029 and 466031.

It is now seemingly almost more common for BRELs to be down on motors than to have one with everything working

I notice that a 37 has arrived at Ely Papworth from Derby this morning but no scheduled departures shown at this point so not known if it's a Scrap run for 465/466s or more 175s to Wolverton?

On Tuesday there's a drag to Kingsbury, which going by recent form will be one or a combo of 465/466s:

466030 and 466017 I believe, just went past them in the siding south of Ely, though I may have read the numbers wrong!

This Wednesday there are not one but two loco moves to Ely; one from Derby and one from Wembley. I would expect one to be for a scrap drag, the other could be a 175 drag or something else.

Kingsbury drag now appeared for Thursday:

How many 466s are left at Ely? The only ones I can think of that might be there still are 466024 and 043. After these then it'll be onto more 465/9s.

I have just watched an interview with the managing director of South Eastern Rail, Steve White, and credit goes to the YouTube channel Green Signals and Richard Bowker for interviewing Steve White. Here is the interview itself.

Hello - I'm new here and working my way through the informative posts but I've also only recently moved back to live on the Southern and find the SE a bit of a mystery! Can someome please point me to a current list of serviceable 465/9 and 466s - also some guidance as to where these might be found in service. Thank you!

The 465/9s were built for outer suburban services to replace the Cigs and Veps. Nowadays though they are just treated as normal Networkers. I saw two in a day at Bromley North yesterday if that tells you anything.

466s though are now always attached to a 465, best chance to spot them now is on 10-car trains in Charing Cross and Waterloo East.

Victoria is too short for 10-car trains and Cannon Street is mostly 376s and 707. I have no idea about Blackfriars.

Hi @45115xeTO - there are still plenty of 465/9s and 466s running and there are plenty of locations where they can be seen - I would focus on places such as London Bridge, Victoria, Orpington? for starters. There are still a few languishing at Ely Papworth Sidings but maybe not for much longer as these are to be dragged for Scrap.

In Operation afaik : 465901/902/903/904/906-916/919/922-930/932 466002/003/006/008/011/012/013/018-023/026/028/034-036/038-042 Of these I think 466036 is currently stored at Grosvenor Sidings outside London Victoria and there maybe others in similar situation at places like Gillingham, Slade Green etc

At Ely Papworth sidings there are : 465905/918/920/921/931/933/934 466001/010/024/043 although not all are easily visible

Hope this helps

Both loco moves are cancelled. Safe to say the Kingsbury move will also be cancelled

465915 has been scrapped, along with 917. Otherwise that list seems accurate.

Does anybody know whether 466041 is stored or operational. If stored, a location would be great please.

Modified to be strictly accurate, as all the Networkers were originally built for inner suburban routes. Connex decided to modify some 465/2s into the 465/9 class to operate outer suburban routes, and buy some new 376s to operate on inner suburban routes alongside the rest of the Networkers.

Are all the networkers being genuinely scrapped, like melted down?

Is there conversion or upgrade potential for the bogies and body/shell? Sorry if this was said somewhere further back in this thread.

If they go to Newport they get shredded, rather than melted down in the first instance. The melting down happens elsewhere.

The Networkers that have been fragmented & scrapped have been dragged/taken to either, Booth's Rotherham, Kingsbury or Unimetals (Sims) Newport.

They'll be stripped of parts for spares where possible .

With no confirmed order for a replacement of the remaining 120+ Networkers and the oft very long and slow introduction of new stock, remaining Networkers likely have 5+ years left in service at least.

Presumably some 466s that have been stripped for spares, which was the case with previous scrap runs direct from Gillingham.
Indeed, 015 was missing it's light clusters and both units had seats taken apart, outside door controls missing and the interlock lights missing (I'm sure among other things as well)
